i was on suboxone 32 mgs a day for 8 months...it would ahve been a long slow taper if i wouldnt have broken my wrist and been put on 240mgs of ms contin(morphine), so the wd's werent bad at all, cuz of that, so i would expect if you slwoly taper down that you would feel very little discomfort and it wouldnt be bad at all now if you decided to just go cold turkey prepare for one month of hell..it would really be bad

Yes, I agree with refusingbondage ----- I was on Sub for 21 days and have not taken a crumb for 21 days --- W/D's are still happening about 3 or 4 hours each day at odd times.  When they do I just go lay down until they pass.  Does Sub work?  You bet it does --- but oh the price you pay when you try to let it go.  At some point you have to just 'bite the bullet' and do the suffering.  The benefits are too many to count ----  I wish everyone on the Sub Train a better ride than I had on it --- very wicked drug that is so deceiving when you first start --- you think you have found the greatest thing in the world until you get to the end of the ride ---- many can never even reach the end and stay on it for months or years.   It is so hard to let go of.  So, some will still make the decision to listen to the doctors who prescribe it and start on it way too high --- they won't learn until they realize they are hooked on a new drug - and that hook is more powerful (most of the time) than their original DOC.  Well, gotta say what my experience is, even if it may not be the thing some want to hear.  All the best.

Hi there.  I have suboxone experience. Started subs over a year ago to kick a very bad oxy habit.. (well, actually any painkiller was DOC... oxy, perc, vics, whatever was available).  Anyway, started on 16mgs of sub a day and tapered about 2mg/month.  Some tapering was harder than other.  I stayed on 4mgs for a few months, same with 2mgs and same with 1mg.  I stayed on it way too long, but was under a doctor's care who promised no wds or very minor wds.  I jumped from 1mg, 12 days ago...and the wds off the sub has been very very hard.  Ive been through wds  before taking myself off oxys once a few years back.  That seemed like a walk in the park compared to this.  Physically, on day 12, its about 60% better and Ive been able to come back to work.  Emotionally its been a nightmare.   But I am off.  And that is the one thing I can allow myself to feel good about.  Im pretty new this forum but its been very good to me in the past week.  Its amazing how ready people are to help!  I would be happy to answer any questions I can for you.  I will also answer honestly with no bs.  Take care and best of luck to you.

Im currently on sub(4-5mgs) been on for 62 days now. It really depends on the person with the withdrawls and how much you are taking and for how long you stay on. The higher sustained dose is going to have longer and more intense withdrawls, but people who just use for 21days also have w/d's that Ive hear last about 1week and then basicly paws for the next few weeks. I cant give you first hand experience yet, but I will be off in less than 60days. I also have a friend who took sub for about 4months and he started higher than me, but he said his w/d's werent nearly as bad as methadone so that gave me some confindence because Ive come off methadone before and it is agonizing and painful. Are you taking sub or just looking into it? What is your drug(opiate) you were using? How much, how long? This is if you are just looking into sub, if your already on dont worry about it. If you are on, most of the advice I hear is basicly get off as soon as possible, so actually these last few days Ive been trying to stick around 2-3mgs rather than 4-5, Im presribed for 6mgs a day right now, but if I can get off sooner than expected then all the better, but I know there is some pretty intense w/d's that sub can cause, but I believe alot depends on your attitude towards it. Ive found previously when coming off methadone that if I could just get up and get out and do something, anything to keep my mind somewhat off the fact that Im withdrawing that it really helped. Its so very hard to do, is get up and go for it when your in that state but it helps. Hope you find some more info, your always welcome to send me a message if you have any questions, I'll try my best to answer them for you. Take care and Good luck to ya!
