Question about Tramadol and addiction... NEW POST

I was on Lortab OR Vicoprofen for pain for 3 months. I was getting addicted so I got off of the medication after my last refill. I was taking 1 morning and 1 at night and then 2 morning and 2 night. The Euphoria stopped and the pain relief also stopped so I said forget it, no more of this evil drug.

I have been off cold turkey now for 3-4 weeks now...

But my back pain is still unbearable. Every day I was in a lot of pain and was taking 800 mg Advil and Robaxen Muscle Relaxer and Neurontin for burning in my feet. It was not touching my pain but I said OH well I will live with it as I refuse to become an addict again..... (after a short time)

I went to a neurologist today who gave me Tramadol and I was assured that it was not addicting, I asked spec for something NON addicting (but stronger then Advil).. Advil is not helping so what can I do ???

I was also givin lidoderm patches which numb the back (non addicting) $500 !!!! I was shocked and am NOT getting it as insurance will not cover it. I have heard they are great but I will not be able to get them.

The doctor said I can take Advil with Tramadol also.....

Anyway I think I was manipulated and lied too. I think this Tramadol is addicting because my pain is gone and I am more relaxed. No euphoria, but very relaxed.....

I have been suffering for so long with horendous pain...

Let me first say I have never been addicted to anything in my life. My dad was a druggy who I never met, my grandfather, grandmother are alcoholics and everyone else in my family smokes ciggaretts are drinks. My mom smokes but she does not drink and does not do drugs......

I was proud of myself that I amongst a very addicted family on mom and dad's side I was never addicted to anything at all...

I am just not able to live a normal life without some sort of pain relief so I am not sure what I can do, without suffering. Does anyone know of another medication non addicting and is Tramadol addicting ???

Thank you!

Well allthough I have no euphoria with the Tramadol I do have slurred speech, tiredness and no pain. After taking it one time yesterday

ohhh yeah is very addicting it is /was my DOC I would put them in the trash as fast as u can ...The wd coming off of trams is going to be far worse then lortab .
I will say this however if it is helping you I would discuss with your doctor using an antidepressant to help with the pain because tram has antidepressant quality's it works like an ssri antidepressant ..

Tramadol is a synthetic opiate and is just as addicting as any other opiate. It also has an antidepressant property that is similar to effexor.Even if it is not classed as a narcotic it is and is probably harder to stop than the opiates because of its antidepressant effect.
Most doctors do not seem to be aware of this. One has to withdraw from the opiate effect and also the antidepressant effect which makes withdrawal longer and harder.

Let me also say... I did post a previous post about my Lortab addiction...

I was only taking Lortab and Vicoprofen for a short time, switching between the two.. The withdrawals was really horrible.... I don't want to go thru that EVER again so that is why I promiced I would never take pain pills again....

Well I just finally gave in as my pain was so bad. I hate myself... I think I was fooled... My DR told me Tramadol was not addicting...

I only took it 1 day so maybe I wont go thru withdrawels from it.. I am going to try and take it when absolutely neccessary.... I should have read the reviews before taking it...

Please pray for me and thanks so much for your support.. It has helped me a lot!
