Rehabs on the horizon-What to do in meantime

Please Help me with some advice in my predicament.  I got a call yesterday from a government subsidized Medical Detox Rehab Facility.  It looks like I am getting a bed around the second week of December.  On the 29th of this month I do an admissions assessment so they can familiarize themselves with what I'm taking, how much I'm taking, how long i've been using, drug history etc. etc. This date seems so far away in terms of the amount of days I would still need to use.  I want to quit ASAP.  Can i start taking Suboxone or methadone immediately just to get me through the next few weeks until I get to rehab or will the few weeks of taking the above make my withdrawals that much more intense when i finally do detox.

I would not do that!  You can talk to them about it when they see you at the end of the month, but methadone and sub can be very hard to get off of!

I'm glad you are doing this though! Good luck! : )

I was thinking the use of methadone would be only temporarily until i get into the rehab, would that make a difference?

if you check out my post alot of the advice told me not to take the meth/sub route.  DO NOT take my advice though because there are alot of people here who know alot more about this stuff than i do.  I am new to all of this.  If you just wait i,m sure people will start helping, they have helped me through my CT and they still are. hang in there.

hi there,
Before i went to rehab, they put me on a small amount of methadone for 2 weeks to keep me from wds so i didnt need to use. Its easier for them then, as its a consistent, stable dose so they know what their dealing with, as oppose to kaotic pill/drug use with varying amounts/strengths etc, also allows you to prepare and get life into order, some stability. Thats just my experience, whats your drug of (no) choice lol?? Maybe call them and discuss your options and what they'd be happy with u doing till then.
If its for weeks not mths, it shouldnt make wds worse, aslong as your not on a mahoosive dose that is.
