You WILL HAVE an increased SENSE of pain. Say something that is normally (really) 6/10 might feel like an 8 or 9/10 if you are going through WD. That was one way I kept taking them because I thought my back was so messed up... One of the LIES your Drug of Choice will tell you.

Aside from what others have said I want to emphasize on the lack of sleep you will be getting over the next few days and even weeks. It ***** big time. My advise is when you can sleep, SLEEP! If you don't have to go out, stay in. If you can rest after dinner, do it. If you have a chance to watch a cool movie but feel the slightest bit tired, SLEEP!

Once night time hits, you might as well go back to work. It DOES PASS after a time, everyone is different. One WD for me I was up every hour for 4 weeks strait, another it was 3days, and another it was 2 weeks. Sometimes you wont sleep at all, some you will sleep for 3hours and not a minute more the rest of the night.

I personally don't like adding drugs to my detox if they are not going to work and only make me more tired. Bahh, damn you antihistamines! Try and see what you like but Exercise, Soothing hot showers, eating good food , will all help, EVERY part of a WD.

PLEASE keep you head up. Keep coming back. And know that we all have been in your shoes, some more than once. We want to help you and we will be here when you need us. Good luck, friend.

P.S. Depending on the amount, type, and length of time you were on your Drug of Choice (DoC), your WD symptoms will very in length. Some will last a few days, weeks, minutes, months (mental addiction and wanting to use again). I think most people will tell you the first few days are the worse but after day 5 maybe, everything seems to turn around. Remember, It WILL NOT last forever.

Congrats on deciding to quit that's a big step to take. The back pain is part of the withdrawal and will get better the longer you stay clean. I had two back surgeries and got hooked on pain meds and every time I tried to get off I would let the back pain justfy using again when in truth the longer you contine to take pain meds the worse the pain will get and its not because of an injury getting worse or anything actually physically wrong. What's going on is your mind is actually making you physically hurt trying to get what it wants and that is the pain medicine and the more and more you take the more and more your mind will make you hurt to get the meds. It will get better tho and even if you have real pain cause I don't know your story or if u took the meds for an injury or not but either way like I said I had two back surgeries and once I finally got clean it did take some hard work and physical therapy but today my back feels better than it ever did while on pain meds so hang in there and know it does getter better WAY BETTER. Well feel free to shoot me a msg is ya have any questions or just wanna talk or whatever it is and ill gladly help ya any way I can.

Good Luck and Godspeed

Hi and welcome. I had a ton of pain in my lower back and hips. I spent the first little bit dragging a heating pad around with me. I'm day 22 and still soak in a hot bath before bed. The sleep thing is the pits. You can try melatonin or nyquil, but neither worked for me. I just set up on the couch. Didn't even try to sleep. Watched movies all night. Less frustrating for me. Keep posting. Give all these good people on here a little more information and someone will be able to give suggestions and help. Good luck and hang in there.

HI there. Sorry you back is hurting you but just know that your doing a great thing for yourself in wanting to to take you life back!

Did you have back problems before pills and thats why you were on them? Alot of times we get rebound pain and that can sometimes be worse than the pain that originally got us started on pain pills.

Post here with any questions. We can help you and there is lots of great support here

Hi again Bubbles.
I'm glad you posted your own thread.
Try getting up and moving, as hard as it seems.
Soak in a nice hot tub and it will relax you and help your back.
Make sure you are drinking lots of fluids to flush out your system and to stay hydrated.
Are you taking any imodium?  If not you should get some.
Tell us a little bit more about your addiction and we may be able to give you more advice.
This will get better.
Hugs
Pat
