Small Dose of Suboxone Having Strange Effects

I would really appreciate it if someone could try to help me figure out what's going on with me right now.  I had a bad vicodin addiction for about a year, detoxed, relapsed and detoxed numerous times over the following year, and over the last 2 months I've been taking about 5 norcos a day on average.  I also take soma for my neck and xanax for anxiety/sleep.

I ran out of norcos but didn't care b/c i wanted to detox anyway.  Only problem is that i realized i was running low on xanax and was afraid that i would take more xanax than normally b/c of the withdrawals and then run out of xanax and be in BIG trouble.  So I took a 2mg suboxone strip on Friday Dec. 9th.  took nothing the next day.  on Sunday morning i took approx. 1mg of suboxone and then sunday night at around 3am i took another 1mg suboxone.  then i didn't take anything until tues when i got a new script for norcos.

NOW here's my problem - it's now Saturday at 2:45 am, just over 5 days since i took the suboxone, and i have barely any withdrawals whatsoever (i feel kind of sick in the morning but nothing that i would consider withdrawals), and if i take 2 or 3 norcos, i feel nothing whatsoever.  how can this be?   i actually just took 3 norcos along with a half bar of xanax and i don't feel well at all.  i feel depressed, lethargic, mentally out of it, and kind of sick. nothing close to being in withdrawals, but i definitely do not feel right.

any ideas?  i really appreciate anyone's thoughts on this.  thanks in advance.  this is really driving me crazy.

thanks vicki.  everyone says 36-48 hours for subs to wear off, so i just don't get how 5-6 days later my receptors still have subs on them.  it's all strange to me.  i appreciate your advice though.

and yes, i know that just b/c i don't feel the Norco it doesn't mean it's not in my system, so I would never take more than I should.  I did get the new Rx for xanax so right now I'm not taking anything.  If i wake up tomorrow or some day down the road and I'm in partial or full withdrawals, I'll probably take a half of norco (I like to be honest) to help with the w/d. but then i'll be stopping as soon as I can.

thanks again for your help. mean a lot.

denz-  I think what's happening is that your receptors are still "covered" by the Sub; you know it has a long half life,as well. So, the Norco is rendered useless. In this situation please don't be fooled into taking more Norco. It won't work the way you want it to and you'll end up taking TOO much!

Now that you have the Xanax(do you have the new rx for that?) please stop this merry go round. You'll end up hurting yourself...

Let us know when you stop the Norco and we can help you through that...

i did awhile back when a psychiatrist convinced me to go on subs. but i HATED it so that ended in about 3 months.  i haven't taken them in a long time but i saved some on the side just in case.

Are you getting the sub from a doctor?

hi Sandra.  thanks for responding. i totally agree with everything you said.  i've taken subs before and i know all about the precipitated withdrawals, etc.  so i made sure not to take it until at least 24 hours after my last norco, and when i took the first sub i felt good actually (it's the sublingual films btw).

i also know what you're saying about using subs as a maintenance drug and going in circles. but that's really not what i'm doing.  only reason i even took the sub was to prevent withdrawals so that i didn't run out of xanax (something you really can't run out of it if you're dependent on it).  i plan on completely detoxing off the norcos soon, i just couldn't do it until i had a new Rx for xanax.

ok this is what Ive read about suboxene. First it wont work properly unless you are 24 hours into withdrawals; If taken before that, it will make you sick, and not work right. I have a friend who has taken it several times so she wont feel withdrawals but because she took it toooo early, she threw up all day both times. If your taking the "sub" pill, your NOT suppose to take anything else. Sounds to me like your taking the sub, then the addiction meds then the sub again, your just going round and round and not doiing it right. Maybe someone else can give a better anser, but that's mine.
