Soma addiction

Have been on soma for a back spasm for 3 months.  Gradually began taking more and more.  Some time 4 or 5 at a time.  It happened so fast!  Never been addicted before, I'm scaling off from 10 a day to 4 a day now.  Feeling some of the withdrawels.  I'm determined to get off and never touch it again.  What an insidias drug.  Sometimes have mild hallucinations with the withdrawels is that normal.  Planning to stay at 4 for 3 days, then 3 for 3 days, 2 for 3 days and finally 1 for 2 days.  Is that too aggressive and what withdrawel symptoms should I be most conserned with?

Oh Somas are the Anti Christ I swear they almost ruined my marriage. My husband took 90 of them in a week once. Horrifying exoerience he had seizures and all kinds of interesting things. Hallucinations, totally not remembering whole days a time, he would get really really mean to and he is usually vary mild tempered. When he quit he just quit no withdrawel symtoms at all. But I will say it took a few days for his speech and fine motor skills to get back to normal. I beileve he pretty much frind his nervouse system. It takes a bit for that to get out of your system maybe that is what you are experienceing? Good luck and dont ever touch them again as tempting as they are theres a reason its really hard to find a doctor to prescribe them they are terrable. Good Luck and know that you'll be ok in few days.

Yes,I think your taper plan is too aggressive. With benzos and barbs, the slower the better.  Definitely call your doctor for assistance. If you cut down too quickly, you may have some problems,so again, call the doctor.

Also, don't take all of the Soma at once!  It's better to spread it out during the day and night.

Cutting to 4 pills a day is a HUGE drop. It's 50% and you will definitely feel that! You shouldn't be having hallucinations;that itself tells me you need to change something.

I know you say Soma is an insidious drug but it's really not. It works well if you take it
as ordered.  At this rate you're taking 300 pills a month.  I'm surprised if your doctor ordered that much for you.

Good luck!

yes...as gnarly said this drug tends to be a wolf in sheeps clothing....and the sheeps clothing is in the form of not being a controlled substance when it absolutely should be.

this drug is very similar to the barbiturates and benzo's in the way that it works...you need to get a taper plan from your doctor. i'm not sure exactly what would be considered too aggressive for a taper, but i know that with either benzo's or barbiturates, the taper you're doing would be far too aggressive....hence the need for a doctor. they will know for sure exactly what is safe and what isn't. also, i'm assuming you get these via a prescription....if this is the case, then that doctor will no longer prescribe them once your taper is done. this is helpful in staying off them.

HI.....its been said here that somas are a wolf in a sheeps clothing although not a true benso or barbiturate the withdrawals off of high doses are similar it is always best to have a doctor supervise any taper plan although yours sounds doable where not doctors here...im more consired that you will be able to stick to your taper....it is difficult to taper off a drug once addicted to it it would be good if you could give the pills to someone else to hold and give you only what the taper requires I wish you the best of luck keep posting for support and God bless.....Gnarly

Conserned, I was on soma for 5 years and I stopped taking them without a problem albeit I was only taking 3-4/day.  Ten a day is quite a lot so I am not surprised you had mild hallucinations. How did you function when you took 10, I couldn't function when I took 2. You also need to be careful with soma it will slow your respiratory down to a crawl. You should be fine with your taper program. Also DO NOT drink alcohol with them it will really screw up your liver---Rick
