Sorry to all i may disapoint

I guess u can tell by my title what i'm about to tell u all. Jason and i fell off the wagon again. We were doing pretty good only we were still getting those mental cravings. We tried our best to ignore them and we were going to couselling but honestly we really didn't find it helpfull all they seemed to do is just repeat what we said and agree with us and nodd. Then one night i had a really bad case of restless leg syndrome and nothing seemed to calm it down. the next day my legs were still restless the whole entire day finnally i told jason to go out and get me one. Of course he wasn't just gonna watch me do it.............the rest u can imagine.

so long story short we decided after discussing it with our doctor and an addiction specialist we decided to give methadone a try. I know alot of you feel strongly about methadone and that its not the way to go, which is why we haven't gone that way all along. but we've exercised every other means. This is our only way. I'm hoping that we wont require a big dosage since we are not taking the large dosage we were the last time. So thats it i hope i haven't dissapointed everyone too much. I still love u all.

Don't beat yourself up about a slip, just hop back on the wagon. Be careful with Methadone. I tried to get on it to quit RX pain killers and they turned me away saying I would be worse off on methadone. They sent me to a Suboxone doctor and I quit that way. It was pretty painless vs. cold turkey & counseling alone. It's more readily available now, more docs can prescribe it and it really does work. I'm a living example with 3 1/2 years sober.
I wish you the best of luck, please research methadone before you get on it, it's very hard to get off. If your interested in Suboxone you can go to www.suboxone.com and they have a doc finder by zip code. It's worth looking into anyway.
Good for you for getting back up & trying!!

It is so very possible to ct morphine @45mg aday heck it is possible at higher extremely higher doses without resorting an even more addictive drug.

I think soreadytodetox hit a good point.

Maybe the 2 of you should considering doing this alone and not together. I found it impossible to quit with my boyfriend around. Maybe it is too hard watching the other go through it. And when it comes down to the end it is only you and the drug. Because later on it is you that has to keep on battling it.

BTW methadone sounds like an even worse nightmare

Have you tried Requip or anything else like it?  I have really bad RLS when i started detoxing and my doc gave me a two week trial package to deal with the RLS.  It seem to work pretty well.  I use that and some benzo to get some sleep the first week.

hello my dear, it is so good to hear from you, even under these circumstances.  i am not disappointed in you guys, but very sad for you.  you know i care so much for ya.  please, please beaten consider and research the use of methsdone BEFORE going that route.  methadone is really a beast of a dru.  and also keep in mind you have to have a plan in place to get off before you get started.  i personally believe short term suboxone is a much better option.  its late tonite, but i just read this and wnated to throw that out to ya.  i am gonna pm you tomorrow with some thoughts on this.  give momma my love too.  girl, i care and i dont wanna see you jump into this fire.
much love

please dont worry about who you have disappointed, you should be worried about how you feel! sure we all feel bad when we relapse and even guilt, disappointment, and whatever else we can throw in! are you and jason married? i have a friend from years ago that just lately told me that she and her husband where long time users of opiates(just as i am)anyway they tried for years to get clean but never could. they tried and tried! well while in rehab my friend was advised that if she wanted to start getting clean one of the first things she should do was to take time away from her husband so they wouldnt be getting high together.they where to weak to say no to each other, and wasnt helping each other by both of them getting high together. my friend told me as long as she was with her husband she would always get high, they have wanted to get clean for years but they finally realized it was almost impossible for them unless they did it separtely, they finally each went their own ways and to make a long story short she is clean now but her ex is still getting high. i dont know your story and im not to judge anyone but you two should try for your selfs not for each other? i wish you both the best and good luck!          sherri

I just wanted to add something.i am normally not so blunt..but..please consider this..if you already know the w/ds of morphine..did you taper or go cold? either way..you can triple the w/ds from LESS of methadone..I have talked to.know of and seen all to many on methadone..the difference in w/ds is not a whole lot from 65mg..that i went cold off of to 10mg..even the length of time fro w/ds has been very similar..some may disagree but I will stand firm..please don't do this to yourself..the bottom line is it takes a whole LOT of willpower to overcome drug addiction period..there is no easy way out other than hard work and determination....methaone is only going to keep the w/ds at bay while creating a physically worse dependance..

well we've been seeing 2 counsellors, our family doc, and we've had 3 vists to our addictions specialist as far as treatment thats as far as its gone. we are currently taking 30mgs of morphine in the morning and 15 mgs in the evening. At first it was hard to adjust to such low dosages but we're doing well now.

Is there a plan to get off of this at some point? Each of us has to choose what seems best for them. You already know the dangers of methadone. It is a total bear to quit. Was suboxone ever discussed?
