Hey everyone! Happy 4th! First drug free 4th in a long time! So thanks to everyone who posted comments and advice! My back doc is very anti surgery! He things it would be wasteful because of my age to fuse those disks because as I get older, gravity would do much worse pain wise...he is supporting my decision of being opiate free...he is just doing the MRI to figure out where to go from here.
so gnarley! I have 800 mg of ibu, does nothing, there is really nothing I can take to help the pain and numbness...I think last night I was feeling sorry for myself. And when my doc reads my MRI scan, he said he has an 8 inch needle with my name on it for a cortisone shot! Nice! Anyway! I am just so tired of the pain...oh my god! But...im looking forward to Russia! Its my goal!
I hope u all have a fun and safe 4th! Thanks for your support!
love and love

HI ........you probably got the same thnig wrong with your back as me L4/L5 herniated disk same on L5 S1 and the 3 above that deteriorating ....my advice is get ona good anti inflammatory I also take 800mg ibuprofine  and find a good chiropractor I get more releafe from them then the pills opt for a young guy just out of school they know all the latest stuff
your endorphins will start to reproduce on there one againand your pain level will go down the cyro will take care of the azz pain and the leg pain hang in there and I would wait for the mri to go to the ciro he will be able to read them good luck and God bless

BTW WOOOO HOOOO ON 30 DAYS

The MRI good you don't want nerve damage.  Pain pills do not touch nerve pain I have it also people think it does because it makes us high.  The best until Surgery if your doc says for sure is NSAIDS, stuff like Lyrica or steroid packs.  Also take your MRI and always get several opinions from Ortho Surgeon and from Neuro Surgeon....Before anyone cuts on me I make sure I evaluate with several risks versus rewards.

Awesome, Congrats and Stay Strong have done great 30 days is awesome.

Hey irish - it's so great to see you!!  Congrats on the 30 days!!!!

Hot showers/baths - physical therapy - cortisone shots - OTC pain relievers.  These are all good alternatives to the narcotics.  Exercise and eating well will go a long way too - if you aren't doing this already, stay away from processed foods, high fructose corn syrup - too much salt/sugar.  And eat a lot of GREEN food (spinach, broccoli, kale) - they help with my OA a lot.  My husband started to grow spinach in the garden and it's delicious - and I actually feel better the next day.

But most importantly - JOB WELL DONE!!  You should be very proud of yourself!!!  :)

I know the feelingg irishann.....i have four ruptured discs in my back from two really bad car accidents, and I was addicted to pain killers before the wrecks.  I was on hydrocodone for about 3 years, then on methadone for about 5.  I eventually went to rehab last october but have since fallen back into the lifestyle of taking opiates and benzos.

The best advice I could give you is to try and stay away from the narcotic pain medication if necessary.  Although you probably do need it, addicts can't take drugs as they are prescribed because we are powerless over them.

Maybe you can have surgery if you have insurance and that would help.  Or maybe you could do some physical therapy.

Going back on pain medication would probably get you an end result that you don't want, back to square one addicted to the pain killers.
