Stooping Percs taking the Suboxone route

I have been abusing percs, oxys, vicodins,...etc fairly steadily for a few years now.  I have tried to stop many times only to be chased back on by withdrawal. i want to try the suboxone route this time along with counseling. there is a doctor close by who will see me and his price is $500 cash for the first visit with $250 follow up. the $500 is not an issue as i am buying percs on the street now.  I just want to make sure it is the standard cost or am i being clobbered.  Also does anyone know of insurance covering suboxone treatment?  lastly but most importantly, what are the experiences with suboxone? Has anyone been successful with this route and is it reasonable to expect i can ween myself  off in 4-6 weeks?  i don't want to be on this for a long time for obvious reasons.  Going from 200 mg of oxycodone a day to the suboxone what can i expect?  my biggest concern is the sleep problems and being so jittery in bed it keeps my wife awake. any insight is appreciated

Suboxone.com and naatb.org are good sites to check for Drs and to get more info on Sub. Taking sub has been a huge help to many here.

Welcome to the forum...I have no experience w/ sub..but from what others have quoted on here...that sounds high. More people should be along that have gone that route!
Good luck and keep posting!

Hi,
I am planning on going the same route for my tramadol addiction. BUT that is REALLY outragous! I was told 160.00 for the first visit and $80 for all follow up visits. I would check around if I were you! Let me know how it goes for you, my appointment is for March 7th. You have to be in the first stages of withdrawal when you start taking them  or it will make you really sick....I have heard! I know what you mean about the sleep problems. Does your wife know? I know there is something that can be prescribed for RLS aka Restless Leg Syndrom.
I live in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago so maybe where you are the prices are higher...but dam!! Things are known to be expensive here as well. I am trying to find out how much the suboxone is going to cost monthly. Also I have heard stories of people staying on it for years, but living a happy life. I wouldn't mind that if I wasn't spending a grand a month on Tramadol!!

Good luck to you, and let me know how it goes! I will try and send you a message when I get on it and let you know how it is!

Hey,

I did the suboxone and it worked great for me..I was at 40 to 50 Norcos a day and I detox
with suboxone in 4 months with no pain..and the cost you mention sound about right
(in florida that's the price)  and no Insurance companys will not pay for it..They do not feel that it is safe for an out patient detox..and most policies only cover in treatment detox...

But it is well worth the money...I could work every day and I ate well..Yes sleep was an issue at first but it evens it self out...JUST DO NOT TAKE A BENZO (klonopin/trazadone/ambien)  THEY CAN BE VERY ADDICTING and the detox is 20 times worse than hydro...

Good Luck and Welcome..
