How long will it take

I have been addicted (ouch i hate that word) to Lorecet 10s for 4 years now. At my worst i was taking 4 blues a day. 2 at a time twice a day. I started tapering in Aug of this year. I have tappered very slowly and have had very little W/D. I have absoulety no craveings for this Drug. I know in my mind its time to get off this train. I really had no medcial need. I just used to get high. I have a problem and know it. Im down to 7.5mg a day. i have been at this point for 2 wks now. Im dropeing by 2.5 mg at a time. Im scared of PAWS. I quite once C/T for 30 days and never recoverd my engery. I started useing again simply be cause i couldnt stand it any longer. My dose scedual  at this point is 5 mg in the morning and 2.5 mg  6 hours later. Im dropeing another 2.5 mg in the next couple days. I just want to be sure i have planed at the dose im at now before makeing my next move. My question is, will i experience PAWS. If so how long will it take to get over it? Any idea? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Well i made my 2.5mg drop on Oct 13 (3 days ago). Im curently at 5 mg daily. I feel great. no problems at all. I have been geting plenty of exercise and eating right. My brain is not playing tricks on me anymore. Should i just go ahead and drop this 5 mg? Or continue to split to 2.5 and then off? Thanks to any info you can provide.

Thanks Six ---  Hey, I had an idea that may help you with the PAWS.   I found a drug that can be prescribed here in the U.S. by your doctor.   It is available over the counter in most other countries --   Provigil.  It is rather expensive but it works very well and is not addictive -  You can take up to 500 mg per day --  It enhances Dopamine production in the brain and gives a 'non caffeine' type of boost --  more energy.    I have read that our addictions has depleted our brains ability to use and produce the necessary Dopamine and that is one of the 'feel good' neurotransmitters -----  A deficiency of Seratonin is normally associated with depression but Dopamine is vital for a normal healthy brain.  Well, just wanted to pass this along and hope it helps.  Thanks for keeping everyone on the site posted as to your progress.   I totally agree with what you said about finally reaching a point that you said 'NO MORE'  I am done with Opiates.  Yes, that is the point one must reach in order to have the strength to quit.  All the best.

Sixstring,I did the taper plan,I know alot of people that have done it with great success.
I have been clean for a few months.
I know every one hates it when i say it ,but one of the most inportant thing to do to get your endorphins working again is to exercise, what ever kind you can do,It will lesson your paws greatley...I know somtimes i's the last thing i want to do,but it really helps to lift the fog.Keep posting and let us know how you are doing I know your story will be a GREAT SUCCESS...OXY

ochooked, Thanks for the encouraging words. I needed that. Yes i feal like im really close to beating this. But i also have to admit that PAWS scares the H*** out of me. I will also add that my mind is made up. And as far as im concerned this is a done deal.I honestly belive that the trick to a successful taper is haveing your mind made up. You have to want to quite or you never will. And the number 1 rule is once you drop in dose you can not return. No matter what, you can not go back. I found that my body got use to the dose after a while. I would stay at that dose untill i was sure my body was ready for another drop. Belive me your body will let you know. i did 5 mg drops (1/2 pill lorecet 10) untill i got to 1 pill a day. From their i will 4th the pill drops. Im trying to avoid PAWS altoghter. (if that can be done) . I realize my addiction may seem small to others but its been a real H*** in its on. Im still in the woods but i can see the other side. And it looks nice. Im asking others who have been were im at now to please help me out. I will do the same for someone else i promise. Thanks again for your suport ochooked. Wish you the best.. Six

Hello Sixstring----- Way to go --- what an accomplishment.  You are almost there and I think you will not have severe PAWS.   You have absolutely done this the right way.  Most people on this forum have testified that it was just impossible for them to taper, but you are one of the few who can.  I will offer a couple of tips that may be helpful.  The only way most of us could be successful was to cut off our supply --- shows you are serious about quitting.  In my case that meant I had to tell my doctor so I burned my bridge back to the Opiates.  Then I got help by finding a person to whom I could be accountable and help me make a schedule.  Then I told my wife and close friend.  I knew that doing this in secret was another way to leave that door open just in case I changed my mind.   At the low dose you are now on, I would expect you to have minimal W/D's -- but you MUST be prepared for whatever comes.   Try to take a couple of days off work or a long weekend --- you may find that you have already done the hard work and you are near the end.  Please do not let fear of the W/D's stop you from doing this now.   I (along with many others) can tell you that it only gets harder the longer you use.   Welcome to the forum and I really do hope you will continue to post - that will help you and many others who post or lurk on this site.  Share your story --- It will help.  All the best.
