Hi forever,
The other members are correct in that you need to speak with your doctor with regards to this for actual information that can be applicable to your personal health status, however...
Buprenorphine will block most analgesic dosages of narcotic pain medication for anywhere from 3-7 days after your last dose of sub. While on suboxone, I had surgery and was instructed to stop my sub 7 days prior to surgery. But again, this is unique to our individual states of health.
Jaybay,
I just wanted to mention... the naloxone in the suboxone formula is actually inert when sub is taken orally. The blocking mechanism from suboxone comes from its mixed agonist/antagonist properties, and ceiling effect. The naloxone in the mix is only placed as a deterrant to misuse. When taken orally as prescribed, naloxone has a horrible bioavailability and is virtually nonexistant... Subutex will yield the same results with regards to the opiate blockade properties. :-)

This is something you have to discuss with your doctor.
I believe it's twenty five years but check with your physician.
If you are under a doctor's care, you can be switched to Subutex for a short time if you have something like surgery coming coming up. That will give time for the naloxone in the Suboxone to get out of your system.
If you want to know how long you have to wait before you can go back to abusing pain meds, you're in the wrong place. If you want to quit, there's a whole lot of support here for you.
Hey,
I'm not sure I understand your question....do you mean how long do you have to quit taking pain meds before you start Suboxone?
