Sub For pain?

HI All,
I am posting this pain question over here as this forum has more Sub user's. I was on the fentyl 75 mcg patch and oxy 15mg x2 a day (ya right) for breakthrough. I got caught breaking my contract in fullblown w/d's and out of med's early. The patch shortage was legit as I lost two in my bed during a heat/himid wave last month. anyways..
I am down to half a 12.5mcg patch and I am uncomfortable with losing the opiates in my body and brain. But it's not crazy bad.My Dr did a crazy fast weaning.
My main problem is, the reason I was on was pain meds in the first place. I have medical problems with my feet. My pain levels are hitting an 8, I can barley walk to the bathroom. I live alone and have to do my own shopping for food, dishes vacuming etc.... I dont know how Im going to be able to do this. I am a semi active 50 year old man.
I want to know how people did with Suboxne for thier pain. I'm hearing conflicting info on using a antagonist for pain. If you are using Sub for pain... was it at a higher dose of sub or lower etc......
Did suboxone work for your chronic  pain?

Hey,

I would only recommend Sub on a quick detox basis, maybe 21 days.  It is more addictive than opiates, takes longer and is much harder to kick after extended use.  I am 60 days clean from it after being on for a year and half.  I've kicked opiates ct before and would have rather done that than kick Sub.  I was dragged through Hell for 30 days getting off.....

For whatever it's worth.

It did nothing to alleviate my pain and the neuro chirurg increased the dose every time I complaind of pain . I do not know what the dosage was after monthly increases over a period of more than 2 years . One day I told him to take it out . He did so and I went through pure hell of withdrawal.  It is addictive through this way of administration even when he told me that  the morphine only works locally and never  reaches the brain . Morphine must reach the brain to have any effect on the pain .Is this last statement true ?

It did work for my chronic pain but I did not have very severe pain since my surgery. I did relieve that dull pain that I still experience. I have also found that while I was on suboxone, the non-narcotic pain meds really did relieve my pain. I know that when I was taking opiates I had increasing levels of pain in part from the opiates. Narcotic pain meds can actually increase your sensitivity to pain and give you whats called"rebound pain" due to abusing pain meds. So maybe when you are off all pain meds, the pain may not be as bad as you think or you may be able to relieve it with meds you can't now. Just a thought. I hope you can find a solution.

Man...... no pain help huh? Not good! SOOoooo as true chronic pain patients whos are discovering they have the "Allergy" to opiates.. what do we do for true pain? My particular situation is a 50/50... for the euproric and the for pain. I can get over the need for the feeling, I have many times in W/D's but the pain is incredible..were hittings. 8's on the pain scale and I cant even walk.
Im going into a  detox clinic in 2 days and being introduced to Sub. Im hoping maybe a nerve block shot or something will also be given. I lost my access to prescriptions and am afraid of getting on the street drug merry go round I hear so much about. Man, what a delima to be in. I never asked for this or sought it... it just arrived one day.
peace all

I have been on Sub for 3 months and it hasnt helped with the pain, the Dr said it might help, but hasnt for me.
Dont expect it to kill the pain like the oxys did,it really is to help you through the withdrawal and for that it has worked well for me
Good Luck

Good Morning!

I have only heard one person say that they used it, and it helped, for pain management. It did absolutely nothing for me for pain.

Maybe some other members can share their experience with you. It is a holiday as you know and very slow so be patient.

Best of luck!
