Sub withdrawal - day 35

I was on Subs for 2 years, the last year in an outpatient treatment program.  I tapered to .25 mg/day.  I'm on day 35 and can carry on with most of my responsibilities but still low energy.  What's the current thinking on how long it takes to get some level of "normal"?

I first want to commend you on 35 days....that is fantastic.  I was on suboxone for almost 7 years at 16-24mg per day.  I detoxed in Jan, 2014, of which, on day 35 I was still not totally doing my day to day activities. Everything had to be done in spurts.  Little surge, wash dishes, down on sofa....surge, vacumn, back down on sofa.
I think what we do have to get through our heads is that the energy we were feeling.....wasn't real!!!  Eating healthy and excercising will help bring it back somewhat, but I can honestly say, for me, it took about 3-4 months before I could schedule a "regular" day....not an insane, impossible day!  Take it easy right now, don't push yourself too hard.  Do things in little spurts and it will come back.  I know it seems like by day 35 it sure be back....but we've (you've) just fought a war....and won!  Believe it or not, those subs DID give us energy but the energy it gave wasn't realistic.  And who the hell remembers what "normal" was anyway????  lol   It took me quite awhile to just not feel like ****....

Thanks for the support.  It's really appreciated.  This morning was great.  The lethargy lifted a bit.  It just keeps getting a tiny bit better every day

Hi!!! Congrats on day 35! I suppose now your well on your way to day 36, that's so great to hear. I don't have any experience with subs, but have heard many horrific stories about detoxing from them. Give yourself a pat on the back, and keep going strong. Good Luck!~Sherry

I did find that a supplement called L-Tyrosine helped...its available at GNC. Also, continue to take a really good multivitamin as this will help as well. Lots of fresh fruit and veges and i always found going and sitting in the sun helped tremendously!!!

Congrats on day 35! I hope I can get there. Keep on being an inspiration to those, like me, only on day 2. Thanks to motye for the reminder that the energy wasn't real.

First off congrats! That's amazing! I'm currently on day 41 off subs. I also still have low energy. I've made myself go to the gym 5 days a week and that is helping! I know for me once I started to feel better physically (not feeling sick anymore) and my head started to clear I wanted to just feel completely normal again and I beat myself up about it. My doctor told me I wasnt giving myself enough credit. That id kicked Suboxones *** and that it's an extremely difficult thing to overcome. She told me to give myself about 3 months to really feel "normal". Since I've been back to the gym I've noticed a big difference tho. Keep your head up and keep fighting. You're doing great!

I'm feeling better each day.  I'm over the hump now.  I still have some lethargy but its totally manageable.  Emotionally I feel great.  Its been 38 days without being dependent on the opiate crutch and I'm loving that.  No counting pills, no long waits in parking lots and no asinine excuses from my suppliers.  To those considering getting off subs; Its totally doable.

Thans to all for the positive comments.  They help so much !!

BTW, I'm juicing oncc a day, keep my protein intake up and try to exercise.  I ride a bike regularly and I'm scheduled to climb Mt. Hood in May.

Even though I'm going really well now I've told my one-on-one counselor that I'd like to stay in the program for a while.  They don't have anyone who's quit suboxone so I'm going to hany around there for a while and help with developoing a protocol for those who want to stop.  I'll meet with my counselor each month and continue UAs.  I want at least 6 months clean before I set out on my own.
