Sub withdrawls

Hi

My husband has been on a quarter of a soboxone everyday for 4 years, I've begged him to go to rehab but he never does.  Well a week ago he decided to quit cold turkey and had withdrawls for 3 days and now he's fine.  From everything I've read, it's not that easy and it lasts longer than 3 days.  My question is, is it possible or did he possibly start taking them again?

Hi Andy!  As everyone above has said the WDs from subs dont even start until day 2 or 3!  So he's probably doing something else....even just a regular opiate withdrawal lasts longer than 3 days!!!  Im sorry you are going through this!  Have you thought about going to Alanon?  You would be able to find lots of help there from people going through the same thing that you are!!!  DO you think he would take a drug test like Weaver said?  It might be an option for you just to ease you mind one way or the other!  Keep posting and let us know how you are getting on!!!

IF I were to guess, he is using something, subs, perks, heroin, something. Because heroin is cheaper and you said he did that between subs, that would be my guess. I think you could go get a drug test at the drug store, it most likely won't show subs, but other opiate will register. It sounds like you are ready for drastic measures. Neither of you deserve the life that brings.

He's been taking a quarter of the 8mg, somedays he would even take a quarter in the morning and a quarter at night. We also had an issue this summer where I found him snorting heroin, which he told me he took because he couldnt get subs. He used to go to the clinic for them but that was over a year ago, now he gets them off the streets. He says he started taking them to get off of perks. I'm honestly at my breaking point, I would always stay by my husbands side thru this but there's been so many lies and deceit and now to be completely fine after just three days...I'm not buying it!   Thank you guys for talking to me about this.

Andy, Suboxone has a really long half life. The half life is 36 hours meaning it will take 36 hours for half the drug to be completely gone. Using this number it will Take 72 hours to be completely out of your body. After 72 is when you will going into WD's. Give or take. You didn't specify, you said he has been taking one quarter. Is that one quarter of an 8 mg strip or one quarter of a 2 mg strip? I'm not a doctor but I think he would still be going through WD's. Jumping from 2 mg to zero is to big a jump IMO. Why is he taking them and where is he getting them from? Good luck. BD

This is a very tough question b/c 2mg is not a super high dose but if taken for 4 yrs, it should have taken longer than 3 days, yes. In fact, my full blown w/d didnt really start until day 3.....does he have access to them and is just telling you hes not taking them?
