i tried taking tramadol for my addiction to heroin and oxycontin and was able to stay clean for two months, but yes tramadol is addictive and can cause seizures in ppl who try and go CT with it, especially at the high dose you were at. I alsow as on suboxone treatment for my addcition for over 8 months, i am now on methadone and for me its worked a lot better, but for youre case I would try and just taper off completely and if you want a doctor to help you they def. can, i would even suggest it. Now as far as going onto suboxone i dont know if that is a good idea because taht is really strong and can be really hard to get off. and withdrawals can last for months. its similiar to methadone and you dont want to open a whole nother door. beleive you me. if you feel you cant get off of tramadol by just tapering, talk toa doctor and tell him yorue sitaution, he will help you out alot. hell prescribe clonidine a great med for the sweats, chills, insomnia, blood pressure spikes, a benzo for the anxiety, insomnia, muscle spasms and cramping, and seizures, and some sleep meds, some OTC anti-diarheea meds and anti-nausea meds too. eat well and within a week youll be completely fine and living without opiate and stopping the viscious circle of addiction. geting on sub should be a last resort thing and really I think you can do it with the detox method and lots of motivation and positive support...best of luck to you, you def. can do it-christos
Welcome, and congrats on your taper....That is a hugh decrease , so be proud of yourself...Also for making an appt with an addiction service...HUGH STEP!!!
I have read many times that sub doctors don't use it for tram...I have never understood this , but maybe this place or doctor is different...But IMO, I think with some aftercare, you may not need sub dropping down to that amount of trams...I understand your point about the habit of everyday having the pills...Like Brit said , Avis will be able to help you with this.....Even if this place will not give you sub, see what else they have to offer...My counsouler is also a addict in recovery, and with her and this forum, I have accomplished more then i ever thought i could...
Good luck to you!!

I'm sorry hon, i don't know much about trams other than you shouldn't go cold turkey from them due to possible seizures. Send avisg a message, she is the tram expert. Keep posting though, you have come to the right place for help. More people will be on here soon....:)
