Suboxone WD's - Insomnia

Ive been on suboxone for 5 years or so.  I was never warned about these kind of WD's... It is soo bad that i actually went 4 straight nights without a wink of sleep. My body and mind will feel tired but when i lay down, Ill start twitching real bad...RLS & all of it!  Sometimes it even feels like I'm having epileptic seizures when i lay down at night.  But this does not happen during the day time... its weird!  Anyway Im on day 14 now without any subs and the insomnia is just unreal!  Im actually pissed of that my doctor never warned me about this, never tried to taper me plus he kicked me out of program for missing an appointment.  I had a month supply when i got his certified letter, so I instantly starting to taper. At peak I was at 12 mg a day, tapered down to 3mg a day and now I could not imagine what kind of hell i would be going through if I had not done this.  First 6 days were brutal!  No Energy at all!, Flu symptoms, chills depression, all of it. Just simply going to the bathroom became a physical and psychological chore literally.  But past that now, but just want to sleep everyday instead of once every 5 days. Im going to my doctor today to tell him everything... My question is....Is there any non-narcotic pills that can help me at night?  so i can ask my doctor when I see him.

That is very sound knowledge! I really appreciate that.  That someone that told you that is very wise.  I will never forget that! Im serious!  And I have thought about that already, As a matter of fact, I confirmed with my doctor that seroquel is better for you than valium, so I am no longer taking valium anymore. (I was only taking one at night to try to sleep but they were not working at all actually.) Plus the librium my doc prescribed Ive read is in the benzo family so hopefully no WD's from them.(Valium)
Anyway thank you so much again for that knowledge, and Congrats again on sweet 86.  I know with the way you jumped, you'll never forget what you went through, and therefore your probably like me......scared shittless of those subs.   I so wish you the best and thank you a thousand times over for all of your contributions here on this forum.

I'm glad to hear that your getting some sleep as I'm sure it's making you feel a bit better.  Be VERY careful with what you take to relieve the w/d's only because sometimes we just trade off.  I was offered xanex during my w/d but was so freakin scared that once I was done on the subs, would then need to rely on the xanex to sleep???  Try to do this with the least amount of crap you need to put in your body if you can!  I know you needed sleep, I hear ya, but someone told me in the beginning, that if it doesn't suck, and it doesn't hurt, your likely to forget what **** you put yourself through detoxing and it's easy to relapse.  I definatly don't have any right to preach at anyone as am on day 86, but keep everything in perspective.  Am keeping you in my thoughts and hoping that your w/d's have taken their turn!!!! :)

Thank you so much!  I feel better today as I slept last night.  The Seroquel for sure, and maybe the Librium a little helped accomplish this. However, it still took a little awhile because of the twitches still.  Actually Im going to start calling them seizures because they're violent.  But my wife told me they stop once I enter into a deep sleep.  Its very awkward..But Im just glad I slept so Ill just focus on the positive.  Anyway thank you for your support and I will keep posting, as I want others to know they are not alone, just like you guys have made me feel that I am not alone.   Thanks Again and God Bless You!

Also, you can ask your doc about seroquel.....i was put on it for sleep issues when i first started taking sub. It literally knocked me on my a$$, but im pretty sure it can be addictive, so definitely find out first. I didnt like how it made me sooo tired in the morning....but it definitely KNOCKED ME OUT!!!!

Hey...I hear ya loud and clear on the no sleep. I jumped from a higher dose...u are just going to have to go through it..I didn't sleep right for about 3/4weeks....but b/c u kept from a lesser dose it might be shorter? Possibly. I was in the bathroom constantly, I actually locked myself in my room. Currently on day 85 (damn, how did I get here) so it does ease up and get better. I started to get real mad to fight through it...just lay down, u ain't going anywhere for now, lol! Drink gatorade and take the immodium....come to think about it, after taking the immodium the first time I napped for about an hour (b/c my stomach gave me a break for awhile)....keep pushing yourself...we don't die from w/d from subs....if we did, is be dead, that's how bad I thought it sucked! But its doable. At my highest dose I was taking 24 mg day. I only tapered for one week, and subs do have a long half life. Push yourself!!!!

I cant wait for you to finally start to feel better, and finally get some good sleep....your family will notice a huge change then, but more importantly, you will feel great!!!!!!!! I hear a lot of people in your situation saying day 17-19 made a big difference in sleep patterns and mood. Stick to it.....your almost there!!!!!

Thank you for your reply and wishes!  I really appreciate!  Yes I have tried melatonin.  That orange drink called Neuro Sleep, has melatonin in it and I drank the whole bottle plus took an ambien and still could not sleep a wink.  Its so frustrating!  I just don't know what to do....In hindsight I do wish I would have tapered like you but I simply did not know that i should taper that MUCH!!
Sounds like you did it right!  But like u said, its too late to turn back now.. My loved ones are already noticing a profound impact.  Ive got my drive and ambition back, and Im way nicer to wife and kids...And thats with very little sleep.  Maybe 20 hours total the last 14 days.  Anyway, thanks for your reply again and the best of luck to you as well.

So you jumped at 3mg??? Thats extremely high. Im on my 6th day without subs, have never felt better! I weaned down to .05 (broke my 2mg tablet into 40 pieces, and would take one piece)....I was on them for 6 years. Started at 16mg. It is extremely important to do a slow taper on subs, and get down as low as possible. I have been tapering from 1mg since 2012. It took 2 years for me to wean from that but Im so glad I did. I have had no symptoms what so ever. I would say get back on them and taper correctly, however your too far in :( I would just keep going....im sure you will start to feel better soon. Try melatonin at night. Best wishes!!!
