If you don't want another child now, definitely need to bring out the raincoat! ;0) Make sure your BF knows to be proactive too. I hope it all turns out okay for you!!
Thank You Ladies, I appreciate the responses and advice. I will wait until my period is due. I do not want another child at this time. I was with my ex 6 years and we have a 3 yr old. Stress could be a factor. Im scared to death at this point but will relax and be patient. Its very scary to be on this treatment and think I could be pregnant. I heard horrible stories. Wishing the best! Thanks again
Like Evolver said, Suboxone absolutely can affect your cycle. Both medications in Sub (naloxone and buprenorphine) can interefere with your regular menstrual cycle (as can just about anything else, including stress!)
I also agree that you should be sure to rule out pregnancy. Most modern pregnancy tests are pretty sensitive and can yield positive results far sooner than the older tests did. First Response is a particularly good one. If your period isn't due until mid April, it would still be kind of early to detect pregnancy at this point. I would recommend waiting until you are about a week late with your cycle to test again. I know that pregnancy tests aren't cheap, so I would advise you just to wait until you've missed your April period. If you do, then you can retest after that. Obviously, if you keep getting negative tests, and no period, then definitely make an appt with your OB.
That being said, it goes without saying that if you're not trying for a baby, or not totally prepared, you should definitely be using protection. Suboxone is contraindicated during pregnancy, so if you're trying to get pregnant (either aggressively or passively), you really need to speak with both your OB and your Sub doctor ahead of time, as they would probably recommend either waiting until you've tapered off the Sub completely, or they would maybe want to switch you to Subutex, which is a bit safer during pregnancy compared to Suboxone. The most optimal way would be to wait until you're completely off the Sub, that way you won't be worrying about your baby having w/ds at birth.
Hope that helped! Take care and good luck! Let us know what ends up happening!
Hi! Any sustained use of strong opiates can interrupt menses. That said - I'd keep taking taking those pregnancy tests! Suboxone has not been determined as safe for Pregnancy. There are also other drugs and factors that can cause Secondary Amenorrhea: http://www.webmd.com/infertility-and-reproduction/guide/absence-periods. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
