Suboxone miracle?

I have read some negative posts about suboxone, but I'd like to say that it certainly IS a miracle drug. I'm on day five, so I don't have the full range of experience on it yet, but to me it's miraculous that it immediately took away my mild WDs from Vicodin and any cravings since then. Of course, when I say it's a miracle drug I know sub isn't THE answer. But just the fact that it ends the vicious opioid cycle, at least temporarily, is amazing. If nothing else, it provides you with an opportunity to sit back and assess the whole addiction thing without dealing with it on a daily basis. I don't see how people can be negative about it. I guess they just want others to realize that it's not a cure-all, but I knew that going in. I know I'll now have to deal with getting off this drug, too. But I'm convinced that it will be more workable that going cold turkey off the hydros, especially since I discovered that I could start on a low dosage. If anyone wants to hear about or share any good comments about this medication, I would be happy to oblige.

First of all, I would encourage someone interested to search until they find the right doc. The first place I called told me I had to pay $650 up front and be "two to three days" into WDs. I told them I might as well go cold turkey if I'm going to give up vics for three days. I found another doc who charged $195 up front and told me mild WDs would be fine. So I took my last vicodin on a wednesday evening and took my first dose of sub at about 1 p.m. thursday. I did have some problems the second day, which I have learned came because I took too much. I'm apparently very senstitive to the drug (plus, it's extremely powerful), so I've discovered my adequate dosage is only 4mg daily (half a tab). This is my third day on that dosage and it's working fantastic. I have absolutely no opioid cravings and I feel really good. I'm going to begin a taper program soon, but so far it's been the best decision I've made since I've been on opiods.

I'd like to know, out of curiosity. I've got 37 clean days off of a large, long hydro habit. I  think I'll continue to do well, but who knows? It might come in handy, so fire away, Dog.
