I was on suboxone for a long time and agree with ochooked.  No matter how bad it is, its better than a life of addiction.  How much is she on and for how long?  The lower the dose the better to jump off of.  Sadly, I do not think anything exists in the world to help addicts avoid withdrawal to at least some degree.  To answer the basics withdrawal can include, shaking, shivering, freezing cold and sweating at the same time, constant goosebumps, sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, headache, diarreaha, muscle spasms and pain, insomnia, restless leg syndrome and anxiety and panic attacks.  She may not have all of them or she may have others.  Generally people describe it as having the worst flu ever.  I know is sounds awful and I will not lie, it IS awful, but she will make it through, it will not kill her and many of the worst symptoms subside after about 10 days.  Some people prefer to stay in bed for a few days, others say its better to stay busy.  I needed 10 days of in bed.  She can and will do it especially with your help and support which is so important.  I wish you so much luck and thank you for asking for her.

I was on Suboxone for 21 days to kick a 14 year Oxycontin addiction.   Getting off of Sub was rough and I was not prepared for it.   Knowledge is wonderful to have so she needs to be prepared.  I tapered to only a crumb but still have gone through a month of W/D's --- However, after about 10 days the withdrawals got less intense and less frequent.   I have not heard many people who were on Sub and then got off of it sing its praises.  Most of us realized too late just how powerful and addictive Sub was to us.  The alternative, however, is to stay on Sub for a very long time and that is not a good option either.  At some point you just have to endure what it throws at you when you try to quit.  One doctor I heard of called it "The Suboxone Spanking".   You can just be there for you daughter and try to help her as she is probably going to feel absolutely miserable for a time - - then it will get better and she will be her old "non drug" self again -- something everyone on this site is wanting (or has already gotten).  All the best to your daughter. (and you)
