Tapering Tramadol - withdrawals

I've been taking tramadol for 7 months now.  I am in the process of getting off this drug.  I used to like how I feel but now I want to be drug free.  I have little kids and a great husband!  I just want to be done taking it.  I was up to 10 a day.  I have tapered down to 6 a day.  I was reading on this forum abou all the withdrawal effects and I am scared to get to the point of taking none.  Am I doing this right??  Can anyone help me out - should I stay on 6 for awhile and then go to 5 then 4 and so on?  Is this correct?  I've never had to do this before.  I am ready to quit!!!!!!  Please help!

Thanks for the reponse!  I will keep you posted.  I'm scared I won't sleep at night - that is the only time I can relax.  I have two small kids and need my sleep!

Great job on your current taper program! Major kudo's!

What I had found worked for me was to cutback about 1/2 to 1 tab once i had tapered down to about where you're currently at. I might had even cut back 2 tabs at one point but I honestly can't remember. How-ever imo whats important is that the taper is at the amount where no euphoria is being felt while at the same time avoiding 'most' of the stronger wd effects.
A little anxiety and a slight case of the blues won't last very long (and won't kill you) as the body adjusts to the new lower dosage.
IMO, going this route is really the quickest way to get off of that T-Krap and sooner end the entire taper process as it really can be quite unpleasant. No need to stretch out the
wd any longer than neccesary!

Also, tapering down to one tab wasn't as bad as I thought it would be where-as the temptation to pick-up once again after going CT is the greatest challenge imo, thus a good reason when once at zero (CT) it's best to flush the rest ASAP. One can't relapse if there are no meds to relapse with.

Whom-ever had said, "all there is to fear is fear itself?" is so very true with an opiate wd imo! The dread is worse than the actual process.

Stay Strong!
