Tapering off vicodin

I have been batteling vicodin addition for three years now. I have went cold turkey three times and it was a horrible experience. The last time was first part if Nov and stayed clean for 20 days. I relapsed with tussonex and vicodine. I told my dr and she is tapering me off. I took 1 5mg vicodin at noon yesterday and half of one at midnight. Today I have taken 1 and a half and tomorrow I am going to take one. Will I have very bad withdrawls since I am lowering it like this? I am so tired of this cycle of abuse and ready to be free of this FOREVER!!!!!

I am going to see my dr today to see about suboxone for a week. I only relapsed for a month and have been on low dose for three days. I just can't handle this.

CT off of a high dose of vicoden/hydrocodone//is usally physically over in a week or less//then the mental aspect sets in...at 20 days it was most likely not physical wd that caused u to cave..but the mental aspect of addiction...and it bites hard

Many find a slow taper helped them///for some it was a nighmore cos they cheated all the time..like me!  LOL///but if u r disciplined and dead serious..u can stick to a taper specially if u cut off outside supply as well..Theory is if u do not experience physical wd//u will not experience PAWS...not sure bout this...but a slow taper to avoid wds is usually done over months depending on the dose

Making a plan to stay clean is important..At 20 days clean//for most unless on methadone of suboxone...u have conquered the physical aspect of addiction..so u were there before most likely...preparing for the mental aspect is more important...the health pages/thomas recipe/and lots helped me lots
good luck, hang tight, and keep posting

no you will not have the horrible withdrawl. i tappered down for 1 month from 90mg / day down to nothing. when i quit altogether i just felt a little out of sorts, unsure of myself and a bit shaky. completely doable.
stay in there and you will be free soon!!
