The Three Months of Terror

While under the influence of ambien, I did several stupid things:
1.  Ate like a mad woman (gained about 25 pounds)
2.  Carried on conversations with people while totally ASLEEP!
3.  Ran into a car while going the wrong way down a one way street (ASLEEP)
4.  Ran off the road and into a thicket, crashing my car into a tree (ASLEEP)
5.  Hitting a steet light while trying to open a bottle of medicine (half asleep/awake)

Thanks to a wonderful supportive husband, got off the junk cold turkey.  Still is hard, especially when I have a sleepless night.  

Has anyone else done strange things like me?

My doc warned me about weird things happening and to be careful...he told me never take it after I had been drinking...I have used it in small doses off and on for sleep over the years without a problem...I do know they can be abused and do weird things to some people...to be used very cautiously...my mother took it and stayed up doing stuff in the kitchen and did not remember any of it...scary

Wow!  thats why I will not take any of that chit.  Melatonin or tylenol PM  thats it for me.  I've heard the stories about ambien, but yours is Severe!  glad your off the stuff.  It wont be long before you see the commercials ......"if you or anyone you know has killed someone on ambien.....call us now.  Monetary compensation is coming your way.  I agree.....it should be pulled off the market.....not worth it.  I wonder if they can arrest you for DUI for that???  bad news drug.

I am telling you, the stuff should be outlawed.  I have noticed few commercials about it.  I remember when I was in the throws of the addiction, every television channel and magazine had a commercial on a dozen times and hour.  I am sorry about your dad and grandmother, but I am glad to hear that I was not the only one who experienced these symptoms.  Doctors should really warn their patients before they take this.  It really angers me when they say on the commercial for ambien cr "non-narcotic".  It makes people feel that it is safe to take, and it is NOT!!!

I have never taken ambien but my father and grandmother and friend have
1. while father in hospital after minor surgery, said all of the nurses animorphed into lizard people and were sneering at him. ripped out his iv and sat in the lobby til my step mom got there.
2. Thought the mafia was in his room and kept seeing them standing behind us. It was a picture on the wall,  southwestern scene of clay pots.

3.grandmom said a 747 landed on her chest while she was in bed one night.

4. Girlfriend said her bed lifted off the floor and she was hanging her legs over the side deciding how she was going to get down.

5. Dated a guy once that would talk to me while on ambien and get real mean!  He never remembered any of the things he said the next day. I would not allow him to take it when he was with me after a few really bad episodes.

Crazy stuff!
