I have seen another post about using a very high amount of soma recently...soma is a muscle relaxer with some additional pain relieving properties in it...it is an addictive muscle relaxers...I jnow WD off that much is tough...does she need your help?
She is in group with me and going through Sub treatment a day or so ahead of me. She was on the same taper Im on and told me that she got down to the 4 mg. day and freaked out, so they bumped her back up to 8 mg. and they're going to keep her on that dose for a week and then slowly taper her down...in other words, she has decided to go the long-term Sub route. I feel for her and am trying to get a handle on if she really, really needs to go that route or just needs some moral support. She's very young and was taking about the same amount of Lortab I was this relapse, but nowhere near where I had been before. I'm doing fairly well on the Sub schedule...I've had to adjust my dose a couple of times, but today I took 4 mg. less than yesterday and am fine.
I just need a little more information if I'm going to try to talk to her and help her.
Thanks!
Rosie
Also, I referred her to this forum. I also told the nurse today that they (the counselors/nurses, director, etc.) should check this site out. ALL of them are recovering addicts and I told them how wonderful this site is for them and for their patients looking for help and moral support. I hope some of them take my advice and check it out. I hope it's okay that I'm referring people like that...
Anyone who needs help or information should join the crowd...strange how after i understood addiction, i now see it evrywhere....no class, race or gender is safe
Yes, it is possible to take that many a day........you would be a basket case and look pretty awful.......I took soma in the past and got up to taking.....well i wont say.....well i guess if I am all about honesty.....i should say ......i was up to 120 of them in a 5 to 7 day period.......not proud of it, but laying it out on the line.......I looked and felt like **** and would never .....EVER take that Chit again. It's bad news. Stay away from soma. i took it for 6 years before taking any narcotic opiate, and it worked great for my pain at the time......never took more than two at night.........somewhere it worked its way up to ....well ...what i said. it also makes withdrawal feel 100 times worse.
Thats like 20 aday. That is alot. I have never had withdrawal from soma and did not think them to be addictive.
when i finally went off them ......I had a withdrawal.....if thats what you want to call it....for about 3-4 days.....just craving them......nothing big. No like opiates. Not even close.
i think they are more mentally addictive than physical. Not difficult to get over. I agree with the addictive---that they really aren't in that......like i said. no real withdrawal to speak of. but habit forming.....is there a difference??????
Thanks for the info. I've neve taken one nor do I plan on ever taking one. I'm just trying to get a handle on what they are and what they do so I can talk to her. In addition to the Soma she was also taking up to 40 10mg. Lortab a day...that I DO know about as it is my DOC. I think she's got it in her head that she can't do this...she is choosing to go the long-term Sub route, which may be the right thing for her. I just wanted to be somewhat informed in order to be able to discuss it with her.
Thanks again for the input.
Rosie
Yes it true. Anyone can develop a tolerance level that high. Hopefully they won't kill themselves in the process.
