Tramadol Withdrawals

I was taking 2 to 50 mgs a day, sometimes 3 for back issuses. Was on them for almost 2 years, went cold turkey 8/27/2010 it is 10/05/2010 39 days. The insomnia and pins and needles are still here real bad. Should it last this long, any idea how much longer? I am almost at the end of a rope, I feel like every part of my body is being zapped. Any Herbal solutions, my doctor has me on gabapentin for the nerve like itching, no good. This ***** big time, please help.

I've been tapering off of tram. For 2 months. I finally stopped them all together. My doc. Lead me to believe it was an anti-inflammatory and that it was safe. I have been going thru hell especially the last 2 nights. I haven't slept more than 3 hours a night in the last 3 weeks! I teach preschool and will be returning to work after Christmas break in 3 days. Is it likely I will get a good nights sleep by then?

I bet the tramadol was masking something or maybe I have a new illness. The self help like this forum is a savior, so many questions, so many different answers, on my may to the liver doctor in 2 hours.

I bet your doctor can run some tests and find out for sure what is going on with your liver.  Just let them know exactly what is going on!

The tramadol is a tough one to stop, and the WDs are hard to get over!  I do think you would be better by now if not for something underlying health wise.

I had some itching when on Tramadol, that is from the Opiates, nothing like what I am dealing with now. I wonder if because of the hepc my liver is having trouble ridding my body of the the toxins built up from 2 years of Tramadol use.

I don't know about the hep c or treatments.  I would say FOR SURE talk to your doctor.  Did you have the pins and needles feeling all along, even when you weren't having WDs?

I have Hep C... was on iterferon treatment and stopped 2 years ago, it did not work. I was on the Tramadol for joint pain during and after treatment. Can the hep c or post treatment be cauing my problems.

hi, do u have any nerve damage / issues with your back probs? gabba is good for that (for me anyway) i have heard it helps with w/d from tram too. How much gab r u on? 2400mg/d is high dose and i am now down from that to 600mg/d which controls most of my nerve damage. (they were torn at the spine when the left side of my pelvis decided to relocate to my left lung...)
now the tram -from what i can gather it is so different for everyone -i had / am having a hard time with withdrawals from this. cold turkey put me in hospital so weaned off 400mg/d over a month and am now a month clean also. i did struggle a lot but was also on oxycontin and endone (same family) when i stopped these 6mths ago my problems with the tramadol started. i still find it hard to sleep after a month but is getting better this last few days (i do use vallium once or twice a week -but have lots of pain to deal with also)((not recomending vallium)) my main prob with tram was nausia also some headaches and fevers -only just starting to come good now. for me i anticipate another 3-4 weeks until i feel human again -but who knows??? i have heard some mention pins and needle type sensations associated with opiate type meds.. but like tramahater said, i would talk to your dr.
hoped this helped... and made sense -my head is a tad fuzzy atm
all the best T.

Hi there!  I have been off tramadol for 7 months, and I don't remember having anything like that after a couple of weeks????  I had insomnia and stomach stuff and low energy for a little longer but no zapping or pins and needles.  Would it be possible that it's some underlying health thing?  As far as natural solutions, I would say mag/cal/zinc supplement from wal mart and some melatonin or something similar for sleep.  Don't want to get on a benzo or sleeping pill at this point.  THAT would be a very bad idea.

I know you are feeling pushed to your limit, but just try to hang in there and keep talking to us.  I will say a little prayer for you.....I know how hard this stuff is to kick, except I was taking 15, 50mg pills a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It was BAD!

Keep your chin up, honey!  It's going to be better!  Talk to your doctor again, ok?
