Tramadol addiction

Hello.  I have been reading all of your posts.  There are a bunch of dear, supportive people out there.  
I have a real problem.  I have a demonic addiction to Tramadol.  I have been a stay at home mom for 7 years and just recently reentered the workforce.  My pain came from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, for which I was given Lortabs.  After the surgery, more Lortabs.  Next thing I knew, I couldn't get off of them.   I ordered Tramadol online very easily and was was so pleased to find something "non-narcotic" and "non-addictive".  Such a joke.  I have been on Tramadol now for 2 years.  No more Lortabs, but I have tried to taper off of the Tramadol several times.  The cravings get so bad I just order more.  I take 6-8 pills a day at 50mg.  I don't know what to do.  Going through a nasty divorce and I wonder if I am strong enough to withstand that and the withdrawls, which are hellacious at best.  I read the other day that decreasing the dose 50% every other day with produced no withdrawals symptoms.  Is this true?  Has anyone tried this?  Thank you for any help.
