Tramadol withdraw....

I need some advise.

Here's the basic details of the situation I am working with.
I have taken from 300 to 400 Mg. daily for 6 long years, and have been weaning myself off.
I thought I was doing very well, but am now having a tough time.
I went from 300mg to 150 mg daily over a period if about 2 weeks without any trouble.
Then I started stepping down by 25 mg every 3 or 4 days until I got all the way dowm to 25 mg. a day. (12 1/2 mg in the morning, then again at night.)
After 4 days at this schedule I am starting to get worse withdraws again, so i stepped it back up to 25 mg 2 times a day, for a total of 50 mg daily.  ( 1 pill a day, cut in half) . I seem to be able to hold it here.....It's not real easy, but I can do it.....I guess this will take a long time since i have taken this stuff for a long time. Wish My Doc would have told me this, but I have the feeling he's oblivious to it. I also remember him telling me in the beginning when he first gave it to me that he takes it himself and how he thought it was such a good med because it got him off of hydrocodone for his achs and pains, etc....?????
What should I do now?? Should I stay at 50 mg daily until the symptoms subside?
I feel like I went too fast, but I just want to be done with this **** now!

i am day 29 ct from a much higher dose of trams plus i occasionally mixed them with hydros. i wasn't good at the taper thing. the first week was rough and eevryday after that just got better. i am on an antidepressant now which helps, also did the thomas recipe and still take the vitamins and eat healthier. i used tyl. pm to help with sleep. i started the trams for severe pain, kept taking more and more to get relief and the buzz. i take nothing for pain now. i actually have no pain. my energy is coming back, my head feels clear. at times i still think about the pills buts its not 24/7 like it used to be.

It took me over 2 months to taper down from 400 mgs.  I just took it slow staying at each taper for a week or even two.  When I got down to where I was going to jump off of them I got my doctor to perscribe clonazepan for me to take .5 if needed during the day for anxiety and .5 at night to help me sleep ( I only had to take 2 so far).  You are going to feel a little discomfort that can't be avoided.  I quit taking them at 50 mg and went ct after 2 years of taking them and I really didn't have to much trouble that was 9 days ago. I think you are ready.

You have done a Great Job at tapering off.  I would stay where you are for a while and let your body level out.  As long as you keep at that level and don't go back up....not even once.......take it slow and when you feel like it ......break into quarters and stretch it out throughout the the day.  Keep checking and maybe you will get some more or even better advice.   Good luck, and good job!

I can tell you this...the people here are all very nice and like IBKleen says they know someone then you will get help. Keep posting and good luck. I know there are peeps here who can help you, and the ones like me that dont "know" tramadol, STILL know how you feel. All of it seems to suck to come off of. Hang in there.
