Update day 10 in detox using soboxone.

So let me update my progress! I was in the hospital July 26th for detox after my husband found my stash and threw everything away. Previous to this happening I had already shut down all my sources to get pills, I had to let my doctor know I was an addict and to no longer prescribe me any narcotics or anything else in this group. I was preparing to quit by weaning down but I failed three times so in my subconscious mind I believe I left my pills out and left incriminating text messages for him to find. Anyways I am just happy there are no more lies, no more stress where to get more pills, and for the love of god no more pill counting. Anyways I have recently been reading a lot of people on here who swear that suboxone is an evil drug and to possibly help others I want to share my two cents!

First let me say to anyone who says this drug is a miracle drug you are way wrong. While on suboxone I had late withdraw hit me about 4 days ago. All though it was not as bad as if I went cold turkey but this time I was halucinating, and couldnt sleep much more symptoms and I had already taken my subs for that day so I suffered through the night. I went through three nights of h*ll but I am better today. Anyways here is my suboxone survival guide hope it will help others.

First rule of suboxone do your research about this drug and evaluate your own situation and if you really truly need this drug. Not everyone can do it cold turkey for many reasons, everyone is different and we all handle things differently. Suboxone has really helped me since I have begun to take it.

Next rule of thumb do not take suboxone from any doctor seek out a psychologist who is specialized in suboxone. I see my psychologist every single week. I have to take a UA before I get any kinds of meds. This last appointment I of course was clean and I was miserable in tears had not slept high blood pressure. Thank god my doctor is as great as he is that he prescribed me something to help me to have bowl movements, and klonapine to help me sleep. Now he only gave me 5 klonapines and I only get a weeks worth of Suboxone. I am also required to bring my medicines with to prove I am taking it correctly and I am not handing it out etc.

Suboxone has no "high" effect and if your just getting suboxone to take as a filler then of course you are going to have a bad experience. Suboxone is made to bind with the receptors so to gradually wean off suboxone to become clean when ready. This drug also helps with cravings and reduces the stress people have with pill counting. Its a very big help for people who really need that help. You do still have w/d. My suggestion is to let the withdraw hit you for a couple of hours or so before starting suboxone. The more receptors sub can bind to the better chance you have of not relapsing. Once you are on suboxone taking any other narcotics or opiates are useless they will have no effect. My psychologist also informed me that methadone is the hardest pharmaceutical medicine to get off of. Surprisingly tramadol is the second hardest medicine to get off of.

Anyways my point is if you are taking this medication exactly as prescribed and you really truly want to be clean this can and will work. You have to follow directions it says right on my medication information that you should never jump off suboxone at high amounts doing it cold turkey as you will withdrawl badly.

I agree about getting the right doc and do your own research. I've been on sub for two days now and haven't felt this normal in years.  I was so afraid of precipitated withdrawal that I waited until I was vomiting on my hand and knees, sweating, plain felt ilke death, probably 25 on the COWS. Within 30 minutes I was well and feeling fine with a clear mind. Methadone 100mg+ for 3 years and in 30 min. I was normal. Not for everyone for sure, but I believe this has saved my life. Congrats.

Actually I had a different doctor when I was in the hospital for detox and that psychologist handed my case over to a new psychologist. I was barely in detox when the doctor from the hospital put me on it. But I know that now from the doctor I see now!

Hi there-  I'm really surprised that you had that horrible experience while taking Sub. That's really unusual and should never happen!  Were you in moderate withdrawal when you began the Sub?  It sounds like you experienced precipitated withdrawals and your doctor needed to educate you about that.

Glad you're feeling better!

Thank you for your words of support I appreciate it so much. Now all I need to do is develop a long term plan on how long I plan to be on suboxone. So anyone have any ideas on a good plan that worked for them would be awesome.

I find that really interesting about the comment your psychiatrist made about tramadol.  I believe it but I think this is the first time I've heard someone say their Dr. told them this.  Very interesting.

Glad to see you're feeling better and you have a great plan in place.  I wish you much success!  :)
