Valium & Oxycodone 10/325

Hi all, hopefully most of you remember me. I'm that annoying guy that shows up from time to time to have some fun banter with 1eagle and have learned to really trust a few of you others. You guys are all awesome.

--- [ Lapse of time from last post about 1 month or so.] ---

I hurt my back again, not terribly (not a trip to the ER) but bad enough I wasn't moving at all for 4 days. A doc-in-the-box got my whole story that I had been taking oxycodone and soma and the normal stuff but hadn't taken it for about 8 weeks. He asked how my pain was and I said, "Worse". He said, "Stupid!" apparently you need to keep the pain at bay or it will cascade. Anyway...

He gave me 10 Mg of Valium, 10 days worth of Percocet, 10 days worth of Soma and told me to get back to my pain management doctor immediately. I'm in tomorrow at 2:15. The valium was unreal. It worked so well on the pain I was able to pee (yeah, sometimes the pain doesn't let me) and walk around and enjoy the 4th which I didn't think I could. Simply put those 3 together were the best I've ever used.

My question is this. I know nothing at all about Valium. Is it addictive (anything that works that good has to be) and can it be used long term safely?

I have severe chronic pain and it just seemed to bring my pain from the 7-8 down to a 2-3 when used with the other 2. Am I really crazy to even think about asking for that? I'm I going to get into all sorts of trouble with it?

Frankly, it worked awesome for pain. I know you guys are the very best at knowing what can addict you for the rest of your life, what to trust and what to run away from. So I want an honest answer.

Also, do you build up a tolerance to Valium? Right now it's a silver bullet with my name all over it. But will I get tolerant to it?

Those of you who know me understand medicine scares me and I don't like it. Well that's a lie. Who doesn't like the way it makes you feel. I'd be lying out of my @$$ to say I didn't like that. That's why it terrifies me beyond measure. But I've slept 8 full hours a night since getting it and I feel like *S*U*P*E*R*M*A*N* with the energy I have upon waking up.

Be honest. If you say "Run Forest Run!" then I'll be booking away like crazy. If you say it's okay and if it works go for it. Or tell me if it only works short term and then like everything else it just becomes a kind-of-crutch.

P.S. - I've been hating life lately. We have a really sick child we kept alive for 4 years and we are finally considering medical bankruptcy and maybe the Valium is helping me cope with that. My wife and I have shed tears of fear and frustration and I just feel a mess. Not the least bit suicidal at all. Not in any way shape or form. But being able to buy groceries when your kids are hungry would be really nice. My parents gave us a give card to the grocery store for $150 on the 4th. It was the lowest I've ever felt and the happiest I've ever felt.

Does anyone else just feel like you are getting your teeth kicked in and on top of all of that you get to limp around? It's a real bummer.

1Eagle if you are around I need some encouragement this frog-man is pinned down. The crossfire is interlocked, dead on and I'm out of ammo. My radio works so I've been praying but I could really use some CAS from a fast mover carrying some JDAMs and uh... if you could get me a QRF I'd sure love you for it. I've fixed bayonet's saved my peaches for the very last but if you wanted to shoot me a message that'd be groovy.

Ribbit! Ribbit!

Modern medicine still has not found a good cure for pain and we get to be the dogs of that experiment.

Frustrating. I've got 2 left, been taking them for 2 days so for as I'm concerned... Good riddance. I'll take it up with my pain nazi in the afternoon tomorrow. I hate talking to the guy he makes me feel like I'm evil or a bad person for having pain.

Love it.

Thanks all!

Among other drugs for chronic pain-- I take zanax-a little like valuim but quicker. Take my advice along with all the others or leave it. I have been taking it for 5 years and ran out. Went into siezures the very next morning-nice trip to the ER! Yep just like all the other dope you build up a tolerance very quickly. The Benzos have to be tapered off of though. Use it very sparingly and you should be alwrite. Try taking a leak when your having seizures from the WDS from this ****. You will hit everything but the toilet.

Hi there.

I wanted to say that I understand what you mean about Valium being the silver bullet! It is a VERY useful drug.

However- And this is a BIG however- It is useful and wonderful in the way that morphine is useful and wonderful- It takes away your pain, but proceed with caution.

Valium is very good for pain relief and muscle spasms- I got 4 wisdom teeth pulled and with one shot of valium I didnt feel a thing. My sister has epilepsy, and when she has multiple seizures in a row, valium is the only thing that will stop the seizures and keep her from becoming brain dead. So, what I'm trying to say is- I understand your feelings about the drug. I also used to be addicted to xanax, which is the same type of drug only a faster acting medication.

It does make you feel like superman. It makes you feel like smiling from ear to ear and skipping down the sidewalk, for no other reason than "ah...I'm on Valium!"

Just be careful. Try not to take it everyday. WD's from Valium can be dangerous. You will feel 10 times worse when you come off of it. Please keep that in mind. You are an addict- in my mind it isnt smart for ANY addict to manage their pain with ANY narcotic.

Rex- Eagle is on station with all hard points packed. Keep your heads down, this will be "danger close". Rich Stands is follow up with resupply if not extraction.....copy you have gomer painted and cluster munitions are in route.

Sorry you went for another purple heart - some people will do anything for a ribbon.

We also had to do the Medical Bankrupcy thing over son born and needing dialysis...dont hesitate to do it....the valium are tricky - you know you like them. You also know they work. Use care and judgement with the stuff....you will both tolerance to valium and can get addicted if you lean too long on them. But sometimes you gotta go that way. Even specops cant stay awake forever! I also understand the feeling....I am also going through med changes and sometimes wonder how much the Docs actually know....maintain at least 50% alert levels at all times. And 100% at evening and dawn. Sorry you had to post again....I will be back in touch. As long as your CO still has you under eye you will be good to go....just take the things when you need them and not if you just "want to" - - eagle will be monitoring the radio net also..................enjoy your family brother - thats what really counts....and give them my regards...eagle out

I'm sorry to hear about your back, but I'm glad you were able to enjoy the 4th!  Valium is a fantastic muscle relaxer!  It is often given for this reason.  However, it is a benzo and main reason for use is to treat anxiety.  I would stick with the soma or another relaxer called Robaxin.  If you use the valium for any length of time, you'll have to wean off of it as you could have severe enough w/d to cause seizures.

Since it helps with anxiety, i'm sure it is helping you with all your worries about your finances and daughter.  It is completely understandable that you would be that way with everything going on in your life.  If you need something to help you through these rough times however, go to the doctor and get on an antidepressant short term?  The valium will create a tolerance and eventually you'll have to increase the dose.  So, if you're only using it for a week or so, great.  But, longer than that you may have to taper off of it.

Best of luck
