What are methadone w/d?

What are the symptoms?  How intense are they?  How do they compare to hydrocodone w/d?   Can I work?  Do you get that INTENSE craving?  With hydro w/d, I'm bed riden for 3-4 days.....   Any input would be great...

Methadone withdrawal is the absolute monster of detoxes; and if you had trouble with attempting to quit several different things you should probably do at least a 7-10 assist and listen to what the counselors have to say. They have seen this situation in several different patients backgrounds and they have helped those others to try and get a handle on it.  And they have more than one suggestion, also.  So it never hurts to have an unbiased ear around to lend an opinion!

Kfred, please listen to avis. I have read many of your posts since I have been here and i agree, you need some help, inpatient probably the best thing you could do for yourself. You have abused the pills and the  sub and now taking methadone which I have heard is one of the worst w/d's out there. We need to learn tools to stay clean and you have been on a roller coaster ride for a long time now. I know aftercare don't help with w/d's, but for us addicts, w/d's are the easy part because they go away, our disease does not. I wish you the best, life is so much different clean and sober, it is a life. Sorry i don't know a lot about methadone w/ds, but I want to see you happy.

many people have shaken methadone.

the wd's reminded me of major norco/oxy(heavy user) wd's. but lasted longer. it took me about two weeks, to get through the rough stuff. the first week was, no diffrent than shaking a major opioid habit, just some what worse in intensity. but you wont die, and sleep eventually comes.  the biggest problem is the stuff just lingers on much longer. some of the wd's symptoms, take a month or two to totally dissappear.

heres an excerpt form one of my journals..

1.no sleep, first 3-5 days you will be lucky if you sleep at all, but it will come.
2.RLS(restless leg syndrom)  bad at first, but will go away
3.the bathroom runs, your going to need some a&d ointment or prep h.......its rough.
4.the flu like action
5.no energy or motivation, this can carry on even after the major WD's are over, I am still fighting this one.
6.mental/head/neck aches (best to group these all together)
7.sneezing, why on earth this happens I have no idea...never had allergy issues ever.so why in the hell am I sneezing now??????
8. major sweats, will be gone in a week or so,no biggie.
9. some equipment issues(XXX) yes it takes us guys a while to get back to normal in regards to.....well you know what I mean.
10.vision issues,short term

It will be 10x worse than any hydro etc w/d AND you will feel awful. I don't think u will make it to work because methadone has a half life that last for right at 3 days so your day 3 is the worse takes about week on done for bad w/d good luck to you. I am a methadone user and my bf detox from it and went through pure he!!
