What can I expect?

After taking Clonazepam 0.5 Mg. bid for several years,  I tapered down to zero over a period of four weeks.
I had two migraines last week(when I was taking just half a tab at bedtime.
Last night was my first without the benzos. Am I through the worst of it?
Thanks.
nick

Hi Nick,
I have been on and off of Klonopin for years due to my anxiety disorder. I can tell you that I always weaned slowly, and once I was down to like 1/2 mg every 3 days or so, I was able to hop off without remembering having much discomfort. Then again, my tolerance for abusing myself and suffering is pretty high, like most addicts.  I guess I am the lucky one, since I have been reading that some people found it really hard to get off of benzos. I was on Xanax about 20 years ago, and that was HELL to get off of, but not so bad with Klonopin. And like you said, it *****, but not like getting off of opiates! You will probably have rebound anxiety and some sleep issues, so do the taper slowly if you find it too hard to CT from it. I am currently taking up to 1 mg a day while I am still in early recovery from opiates (51 days  clean of opiates) and most days I only take .05 mg and I am a bit concerned now about how I will do this time getting off of them, since my body is already screwed up from the opiate withdrawals, so I am not going to try for another month or so when my doc gives the green light.
GOOD LUCK and keep on posting!

Yeah. Last night was a bugger. Night sweats. Gas. Splitting headache Insomnia.
Still, it's a cakewalk compared to kicking Methadone.
I am disappointed in my doctors. None seem concerned about my getting off The Klonopin. It's like, "yawn ".   Oh well. I'll get through it.
Thanks for writing

Hi Nick.. I'm sorry to say that no you are not thru the worst of it. I know it was difficult to taper off even thou it is a small amount it is a benzo. You can expect more of the same that you have felt these last couple of weeks but intensified a bit. sleep and anxiety maybe your issues.. Have you spoken with your Dr. Has he given you and suggestions ? Melatonin may help with sleep and Valerian root may help with anxiety.. I'm glad to read you are still moving forward Nick Good for you !! lesa

Not sure but I was taking 1 mg everyday for 5 years and got off in 4 weeks which many will say is unheard of especially considering the rapid detox so with that said I believe I was the exception, many have said it takes months to get over it and I think you haven't yet, possibly your in the eye of the storm. .I would suggest getting some clondine to regulate your heart and get valium and taper off of that. best to you as I know what hell was like..
