What was the hardest day when you quit? When did you feel better?

I was just wondering how it was for everybody else.
Me.   hardest day 1        I felt better on day 4

Mine was about 8 months ago.  Thank God for a very special friend of mine who talked me thru and gave me the tough love that i needed.  I am one who needs it like that.  She doesnt mince words with me and she knows me sometimes better than i know myself.   sara

My hardest day.....

I was a about one month clean and sober when I had a terrible craving.  It hit in the early afternoon.  I didn't trust myself to go out anywhere so I just sat in the recliner (mostly on the edge of the recliner).  I can remember feeling all antsy like I needed to do something, do anything to get my mind off it but like I said I didn't trust myself so I just stayed stuck where I was.  There was a mtg that night at 8pm.  I thought as long as I can get there I'll be ok.  I thought of picking up the phone but I didn't do it.  I sat there for hours just white knuckling it.  I couldn't relax, I couldn't watch tv.  It was like I was paralyzed, completely stuck.  At about six pm I finally got my boots on and went to the mtg.  Still feeling edgy.  Every liquor store caught my eye and seemed to linger.  I made it to the mtg about 1 1/2 hrs early.  I was sitting in my truck but I felt a bit better because I was closer to being in the right place.  I decided to call my sponsor and tell him what was going on.  He says to me "You should have called me earlier and you wouldn't have had to go through all that.  You could have gotten it out and had a good productive day."  I knew he was telling the truth because as soon as I had talked to him I had felt better.  We laughed about it and I went to the mtg.

I haven't had to sit with all that anxiety for that long ever again.  When cravings hit I use the phone or go see a sober, clean friend.  I have made many friends that are willing to help all because I followed one suggestion:  Go to a mtg.  I did that and the rest just seemed to happen.

I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but it seems as though the hardest day I ever had was the same day I learned the most important part of getting and staying clean and sober.  Thanks for letting me share!!!

The last time I went through a tramadol detox the 3rd day was rough.  I didnt sleep a wink the night before.  By the 5th day i started feeling better but it took awhile until I could start sleeping again.

However, on day 3 my anxiety was through the roof.  Although, I was reading these forums before I went through it, so I honestly think I made it worse on myself by thinking about it too much.
