from methadone to suboxone..PLZ HELP!

3 weeks ago I made an appt for suboxone bc I was detoxing from methadone due to increasing charges at my clinic..they brought me down from 120mgs @ 10mg decrease per day..I came completely off of the methadone for a week(was taking oxy for that week to help with withdrawal) I finally got tired of chasing after pills and went back to the methadone clinic..so I am now up to 40mgs and have my suboxone appt monday @ 1:15..Im wondering if I take my dose tomorrow @ 8am if I will be ok to start suboxone monday afternoon..my dr office has no nurses and the receptionist all say they have never heard of having to be so manys hours into withdrawal before starting suboxone. I am very confused and scared..any advice would be much appriciated.

Look up the COWS scale and that will explain induction. If you have gone without methadone, you will know how long it takes you to reach the required withdrawal. Methadone takes a little longer than many other opiates. That helped me a lot, because my doctor had my induce at home. Good luck.

We really can't discuss med dosages or when it's okay to switch from one to the other. Especially when it's Sub. The office staff is wrong though. You really need to be in moderate withdrawal to begin Sub.

Google your question and you'll see a lot of info on this. We're sorry.

I am sorry hun but we can't answer that question for you here in this community. I suggest that you goggle Suboxone and do some reading on it. Surely it would be best to speak with your prescribing physician but if that is not possible then do your homework. I wish you the best.
