Xanax, Valium, Clonodine

When coming off of opiates and using the aid of another medication to cope with the anxiety, w/d's. What is the most/least addictive?  Xanax, Valium, or Clonodine. Is one more addcitive then the other and do they all work alike or just as well as each other??? Has any one had experiences with these medications??

If 4mg is criminal, what about 8mg Xanax a day?

I have to agree...4mgs of xanax a day is insane...Plus while on sub??

Also , doctor told me that clonodine is not addictive at all...but if taken for a long time, u must taper off some...but usually for w/ding , you don't take it that long...If i were you , I would talk to your doctor about that much xanax and mixed with sub...
Good luck to you!!!

If that 4mg a day was your first script for a benzo, the dose is criminal! A doctor must start you out at small doses. The combination of the opiates and benzo's can stop your breathing.

xanax is the most addictive and cloidine is the least, but their all dangerous for different reasons.whats hard to believe is you were prescribed 4mg's of xanax a day, glad to hear that your not adhering to that.try and stick to the 21 day taper,i've never taken sub. but i hear that it works best when taken for a shorter time.you should be monitored by a doctor when taking clonidine as it is a blood pressure med.when i was in rehab years ago if your b/p was under 115/65 they wouldn't give us the clonidine, some people would jog in place in there rooms to get their b/p up just to take it.clonidine does help quite a bit with the withdrawals.be careful and good luck

any drug is addictive to an addict, we can get addicted to tylenol pms!
the clonidine is not a benzo, its a blood pressure medication and cannot be stopped abrubtly
you must taper off the bp pill, while you can go ct of a small amount of xanax
however your doctor has you on a large amount of xanax
i also wanted to *** that in some states it is agaisnt the law to prescribe suboxone and xanax, the combination is deadly
i hope you can stick to the 21 day plan, most people who take sub stay on it for years, before they seek freedom
stay strong!

Here is some info on Clonidine
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clonidine
http://www.drugs.com/clonidine.html

Don't start with benzos like xanax or valium. It's replacing an addiction with another one. Believe me quitting benzos is not a walk in the park. I'm tapering from them for 9 months now. Hang in there and keep us informed. sophie.

I was under the impression that Clonidine is not addictive at all as it is not a benzo and has no history of recreational use therefore an excellent choice.

If your blood preassure is low though, you will find it very difficult to tolerate it.

The clonidine isnt a benzo so its no where near as addictive, if at all, as valium or xanax. According to my doctor xanax and klonipin are the most addictive benzodiazepines, but regardless of which is most/least they are all addictive. Like you said you dont want another monkey on your back, so be very careful when it comes to the xanax. I wouldnt worry about the clonidine, Ive taken it many times during detox(including while on sub) and never had a problem when I stopped, although you do want to make sure you dont have a spike in blood pressure. Keep us posted how your sub treatment goes, we all need to learn more about suboxone to get a clearer understanding of how its best used. Take Care!

Yes, I am on Sub treatment and I started it on Thursday (1/29/09). It is working well for me and the only problem I seem to be having, is some difficulty when trying to go to bed at night (all other symptons are manageable). My doctor prescibed me Xanax, up to 4mg a day if/when needed and I have only been taking 1 mg at night time to help with sleep. My FEAR is that I am going to become addicted to the Xanax as well, so I am NOT taking any throughout the day, just at night. I already know I am going to have to deal with the w/d's from the Sub in 21 days ( I am doing the 21 day plan) and I dont want another monkey on my back. Any thoughts? I trust my doctor, I just don't trust myself ,although I have been good about when, and how many Xanax I have been taking.

I used the xanix and very carefully...like in tiny bite size pieces, because that is highly addictive.

I helped sooooo much for the anxiety and sleep.  For sleep, I alternated that w/ambien, temazepam & tylenol pm.  Still never slept much, but some w/the mentioned pills.

But to answer your question, I think they're all addictive.

Do you have all 3?  How much are you taking?
