Xanax Withdrawal

I went in for detox last week for xanax , Been on then for about 10 yrs off and on the last 3yrs really bad. Ive been home now for 6 days. I feel horrible, I have a script of Tranxene but havent got them yet. I have the shakes, buzzing in my ears, cant sleep, nervous. How long will this last ? Can I do anything to help myself without relapse ?

I have been using oxazepam for 9 years at a very high dosage, which is kinda the same as xanax. It took me 14 months to taper it off completely, I still take 25 mg of tranxene daily and started to taper that one too.
6 days to taper off xanax after a 10 y.o use is IMHO completely nuts. Your dr gave you tranxene coz it's a long acting benzo like valium, it has a very long half life up to 100 hours. That's what all taper plan do. He probably gave you the equivalence to taper off. you'd better get your tranxene asap. Benzos cannot be stopped CT.

the tranzene is a weaker benzo to help u not relapse..have u talked to the dr???ur taper may not have been complete and the tranzene could be part of the taper...call and ask...it may not be safe to not fill it if it was to be part of the taper...6 days is a quick detox from xanax with nuttin else...often weaker benzos r used to taper down...valium is often the one they choose..librium as well...tranzene can help too...ask ur dr...if u dont do the taper as rx-d it could be dangerous on tap of causing relapse...there r some examples of some benzo tapers in the health pages from the UK/Ashton manual...read so u can get an idea of a benzo taper and how it is sposed to be done..keep us updated
