Xanex: Anyone on them?
Good Lord it's hard to try to stop taking something you have been on for so long.I became a member of this site 4 days ago and everyone that has talked to me has been great. I have still not seen anyone who has the same problem.
I am trying to Quit on my own. I have been on them 4 yrs 1 mg 2 times day. but i am so use to them i am up to 4 a day i know i need to stop and i am trying.

i do have anxiety and pabnic disorder so i did need sonething occasionally when it flaired up i just needed to be very careful with what i took and how much cuz i have an extremely addictive personality. .5mgs=10mgs valium and clonazepam(a longer lasting potent anxiolytic benzo) .25mgs=10ngs, so i switched over to that once i got off and am at .5 when i have a bad day or an episode...

once you detox, you may benifit from a relaspe prevention plan
figure out ways to manage anxiety without pills
if you do not have a plan
you anxiety may be your # one trigger

there is a small risk of siezures, so talk to your doctor about an anti-seizure medication you can take during ct detox
another way you can detox is by slowly tapering your dose, little risk in this methadone
decrease your dose by %25 ever 3 days
the detox facility i worked at, had several benzo/alcoholic patients, these patients stayed on the detox unit for 3 to 4 days, with a home detox, you do not have 24 hour medical superviaion, but your family doctor can help, and you can take as long as you need to taper, you may also need comfort meds from your doctor, vistoril for anxity and trazadone for sleep, have to talk to a doc about this
good luck, you can do this, it will seem like the wd symtoms are never ending, but they will pass, and at the end of your journey you will find a new freedom

i was on xanax for almost two years and for over 10 months i waking around at least 8mgs most of the time 10mgs total per day, now i was prescribed 4mgs, 1 mg taken four times throughout the day...i would also see mutiple therapist to get other benzos prescribed or xanax script if i ran out early....i was definitely full blown addicted to benzodiazepine, along with my primary DOC's Heroin or Oxycontin either one it didnt matter i just needed to have a line go up my nose every two hours otherwise i would be dying....getting off the xanax was def. hard...going cold turkey its def. no a good idea, it can be lethal, cause seizures, convulsions and many other life threatening problems, its terrrible..thats why to get of you need to taper off slowly, it can take many months but better safe than sorry and going slow is the best go at your own pace that works best for you..its def manageable, you are at 2 mgs and i would taper down .5 or if that is too much which i dooubt but you never know go at .25mgs per week..then once you are down to either .5 mgs or .25 mgs its safe to go cold turkey and if its too bad for you then switch over to 5-10mgsw of valium a longer lasting benzo that would be equivalent to your dose on xanax(.5ngs)....even if you did go CT from the dose your at now it wouldnt be lethal, it would be discomfort for about 5-7 days, and then its over. i would do this medically supervised with your therapist or doc....stay strong and defl get off xanax its one of those terrible drug out there on the market..-christos
Hi I'm jimi, I was on xanex and vicodin @ the same time. You have to be very careful about titrating down ( weening off ) please consult a physician who specializes in withdrawal from benzodiazapines ( xanex, valium, clonapine, ). Because when weening off this substance it could change your sleep paterns and much worse you might throw a seizure ( it happeneed to me twice ) I'm now 9 and a half years clean and feeling Wonderful!!!!
