I saw that too. One of the things they said that concerned me was that after long term use of opiate it can take up to 2 year for your brain to recover. I have been on low dose hydro for several years and i am trying my best to ween myself off of them. We have a long weekend coming up and I told my wife I was going to try to stop this weekend and that maybe by Tuesday i would be feeling ok. She said she would rather me just take them and not go through the pain i have with my back.
You would think that at 2 to 3 a day it would not be a big deal to stop but it is for me, because of the pain. I know these pill start to mask the pain and that is what scares me. Do you think if I start today with only 2 and then none tomorrow will i be through the worse part by Monday?
lady, my daughter used methadone as 'replacement therapy' , and was also on it for only about 5 months. She said the withdrawals were a hell she wouldn't wish on her worst enemy. Today, she is more than 2 years clean. She said she stays clean by staying busy, and she certainly seems to have her hands full right now. She is a full-time college student and also works 40 hours per week, and is a single mother of an 11 year old daughter. She was just named to the Dean's List for the Spring Semester after having also been on the Fall 2007 List. She is determined that drugs will never control her life again as it did for so many years (she used Oxycontin). She lost her business and her marriage (her husband was also addicted) due to her use, but she set her mind on recovery, and so far, she is doing wonderfully. Can you tell I'm a proud mama?? LOL

Hi Lady, methadone is used as a replacement drug.I am on methadone at 70mgs a day as i am having hip-resurfacing on june 4th in a couple of weeks.Im 49 and have been on percocets mostly since 1990 as a result of a workplace accident.I agree that meth takes time to detox from, but we must understand and come to terms that we must come off without trouble by going slow,as the body and brain need time to adjust as there is a very0long half life.A lot of our fellow forum users have a beef with meth,I have been on and off,in the past and did not have that much of a problem. The major problem is when we are on for long periods of time,a decade or more.Goodluck with the Sub-Recovery John
maybe those fool dr.s need to get hooked on methadone for themselves and come of it...it should be a required course..
How are you?? hanging in there? xoxo
