I personally would chose subs over methadone, but all bodies are different. It takes awhile to feel stable on subs, 2 weeks is not uncommon. Methadone to subs went smooth as it could for me. Glad you feel better. What is your plan with you time on subs?
On to the rest of the holidays. Take care. Pamela
Thanks everyone.................The side effects are starting to level off, however, I would go back to the Methadone if I had a choice (unfortunately it's not covered under my insurance for substance abuse treatment and Sub is). Detox just isn't a reasonable choice for me right now. Baby is doing great, we're all just getting better from a respiratory illness over Thanksgiving. Thanks for all the comments.
Well I too have tried many drugs..And came of Methadone with 2 other meds..I tried the Sub but it made me sick. But I did not do it right either. I will just say that Subs, Methadone and Trams are so synthetic that they are the worse meds that do not like to let go. So do talk to the DR..If and when you come off of them they will take a while because of how long it hangs in the body..All drugs take time for the Brain Chems and etc., to balance back which sends us into some uncomfortable situations both Physically and Mentally. We are here for you .
Bless
I would like to add, I believe through reading on here and other forums that a Methadone detox is way harsher initially, but the time scales are very close! I think you made a wise choice, I'm sure many will disagree, just my opinion is all!
I agree with Weaver, your dose is likely to high, Sub headaches are bad, bad , bad, I had them too. Plus most of the other normal side effects, low motivation, and the need for SPACE, don't look at me, don't talk to me, lol. They do level off! Especially when you start lowering yore dose. I never liked Methadone, I felt like a zombie on it! I know people say Subs are hard and some say the hardest, I've tried every drug imaginable, heroin was my DOC and I could never kick that. The thing I would suggest is find out for yourself, please don't stress it after what you've heard, it's so doable if you want it, I did it and many many others too. It's different for everyone, it's a detox like everything else, no escaping the inevitable. I would personal call it right on par with Methadone, which is harder varies from person to person, the length of time bad is roughly the same. I believe getting free comes from a good plan and after care, a must in my opinion. You can do this my friend, reduce your dose after you level from the swap, and reduce weekly or fortnightly with guidance from your clinic. It's possible to be free from this, I promise you that! I wish you nothing but the best in the future, go get your life back. Well done on everything thus far, the fact you are trying new ways shows me you won't off, you can do this, ;)
I've been wondering what you've been up to and how u and the baby are doing!
OP8fool is absolutely right!! WD from Suboxone was hell. Had I known, I just would not have taken it.
I had the same effects you are having. My dose was too high. Call your prescribing physician and tell them what is going on.
I agree. Suboxone is just trading one drug for another and actually..... it has worse side effects and WD's than Methadone. Honestly... you need to stay FAR FAR FAR away from Suboxone. I know it is painful to WD but in the long run you will be so thankful to have known. The WD's from Suboxone are fare worse than Methadone, Heroin.. and all other opiates. Stay strong and push through the pains of WD. There is no easy way out of our addictions as you can tell. Good luck and fight through.
Exactly what I was thinking weaver!! Sometimes it takes awhile to get used to too. When I started taking them, I felt crappy too, not as much as what you describe, however it was very unpleasant
How much are you taking? Too high a dose can cause those symptoms.
