addicted to oxycontins, cant get off em

well ive been doing oxycontins for a good year and a half now and im not prescribed anything ive been doing them since i was 17 and i am now 19, im starting to realize i have a serious problem i havent been paying credit card bills cant save a damn penny  basically i owe over 800-1000 dollars to banks/credit companies, the thing is i make about 275-290 a week after taxes and i have no rent to pay etc.  anyways bottom line oxy 80s run me 60 dollars in glen burnie maryland (suburbs of baltimore) and around here if you have a OC dealer your lucky because oxys are HARD to come by around here. my habit consists of 40mgs-80mgs a day, lately i start illin as soon as i wake up (wake up freezing cold), etc today i swore id try to stop but instead i ended up buying 3x 15 mg roxis and eating 1 and snorting 2, anyways bottom line is i wanna get off of these things and was wondering how hard it is to sign up to a meth or suboxin clinic and how expensive each one is, im sick of paying 30-60$ a day and being drained of money i get paid every 2 weeks and usually by day 7 or day 8 i have no money and therefore the rest of my days are HELL but i somehow always manage to get what i need....im just sick of putting myself in debt and blowing my money, im in college but i have skipped 7+days this semester to get high , im sure there are plenty of ppl that have been in my situation and who still are in my situation, i just need advice on what i need to do suboxin or methadone, i personally think methadone would work for me because i can wean off of oxys, its hell of a lot cheaper and im sorry to say, i can get high and then work my way down until i am off this ****, just please help me i need advice and i am not telling my parents or anyone in my family about my problem, the only positive feedback will be on here

Hey there you posted on an old thread I would repost your question so you can get some more support from everyone. What type and dose were you taking? It is very difficult to cold turkey by  it can be done. I am 21 days clean and it was bad but now it is getting better still a little tired though. Lol but the energy will come back. Drink lots of fluids, take hot baths, bananas and there is a link for the Thomas recipe that can also help. That is awesome you want to get clean. The mental is the most difficult part but you have to know you can do this and be a better parent for your children they need you :) I would definitely repost so you can get more support let me know if you need any help ok?

i agree methadone is so hard to get off of it is the same as the rest i know from personally experience i to am trying to come off of pain medication after being addicted for about 5 years its no fun and i have thought about suicide several times which is so selfish because i ave children but its time i just get it together and get off the stuff any advice

You are getting there! So glad to hear it. You sound like you have a good start on staying away from those. Don't put yourself in the position where you are around people who have them. The temptation will be strong but you can do this! Just keep going forward and don't look back.

So glad to hear that you are doing better! Keep up the good work, and continue to post your progress. Just think, right now, someone in the same situation is reading your story and maybe you are giving them the extra "push" that they needed to get clean. Good luck!

I can't speak for the Drew cat above..but, your argument is technically true but impossible at most times.

When an addict is in their withdrawl state and they have some money on them.....they want their DOC NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It is like they can't be in the mind set to do what makes sense...and that would be to put that money aside,  in a bank, add to it weekly, then have enough to get sub or meth. All they are thinking about is not feeling like sh!t anymore....that is why i truly believe that unless the addict has good health insurance for suboxone or qualifies for free methadone treatment in their area, getting on suboxone is next to impossible.

I have never seen an addict have the willpower to stash that extra money away in the "suboxone fund" all the while their dealer is blowing their phone up and they are in withdrawl.  

I get your point and it makes complete sense to someone like me.  But, it isnt real when it comes to an addict.

only argument i have with that is morgan....i have a real hard time spending that much money on ocs and have just realized its not worth it but to tell you the truth i would rather buy a 80 everyday, then get on the suboxone program, as it is the same price....lol

Think of all the people like myself who have no day under their belts, and you are moving right along.  Before you forget, write your self a letter telling all about the hell you just went through, and if you feel the need, read it over and over again as needed.

sry miscounted i havent got anything since the 4th besides a meth dosage to help me stop illin but oxycodone-wise i havent touched anything, this is day 5 (in 2 hours), it seems im detoxed completely i have all my energy just got done working a 12 hour shift and moved over 1500+ wood today at the restaurant, i have all my energy and i feel normal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ive got money to get a oxy but guess what i dont need it! its amazing how stopping for 5 days all the sudden im starting to get my sense back, its not so hard after all!!! so far i am doing SUCCESSFUL thanks to all the ppl who told me i could do it, your the reason why i did! eagle big shoutout to you, im gonna keep counting these days i will let you guys know accordingly :)

day 4 is today, and its almost day 5

last night i got my friend who goes to a methadone clinic to front me 60mg of methadone just to make day 4-7 easy, i took that stuff and it is the most amazing **** ive ever taken im still feelin good off of it and it lasted all the way from 2am last night till 9pm now, and supposedly it lasts for a total of 24-36 hours, since i took it last night it was much easier for me today, tomorrow i work 10:30-9:30 hopefully i will still be feeling decent and then tuesday wll be day 6 and payday is day7, i can make it!!

Happy to hear you're feeling better. it might be better for you that you weren't able to get sub/meth. You now know the agony of oxy w/d, and that in itself would hopefully be a future deterrent to never touch them again. Seems like you've got the right idea, keep yourself occupied. Keep busy, you can do this!

You are already so close dude - - this will all be said and done by next Wednseday - and you may spend your check on something besides methadone.........but your check and the resulting finances may well be a trigger for you.......keep in mind that just because you got a couple bucks doesnt mean that you have to go out and score again.....keep thinking and keep posting and above all else stay strong.............and good luck to you - you will make it -

i am feelin GREAT off of 2mg lorazpam i literally feel euphoric, and good (not like aoxy) but good enuff, im leaving to goto work in less then an hour n yea im buzzin off these pills but its a heck of alot better then feeding my opiate receptors,

DAY 3 i cant do anything until wed cuz all the sebo/meth clinics i called were giving me the "next week' bullstuff but when ur a opiate user like me i need help the next day, not next monday, or the following tuesday or any of that BS , so that made me p/o when i found out noone wants to do anything until i can get my check on wednesday anyways....so i dont know ive been eating lorazpam to get my mind of oxies and its been doing fairly well, been playin alot of video games etc anything to keep my mind off doing oxys <~~ VERY HARD

yea sorry i been real busy i was off yesterday and ended up eating a few lorazpam or however u spell it, i been takin vitamins daily and as of today my ill is just about as bad as yesterday .......i also havent really had the money anyways so that helps huh?

Get away from the people that are using around you. As far as Methadone Clinics, that's why they're there. Thousands of Professionals can't be wrong. Methadone is only about $40 for 120 10 mg tablets without insurance, and it works if you take it as prescribed and taper off. Doing this alone means one thing, Relapse over and over. There is nothing wrong with using meds to quit meds as long as you do it right and are honest with YOURSELF first.
