Ditto to what Ben said. IF you don't have any serious medical conditions, the odds are that you will be fine. On the other hand, people who've used and abused over many years have died.
The first few days of cold turkey detox is very hard; if you can taper, then try that. Once you've decided what you want to do, post and let us know. There are a lot of people on here with years clean who can offer suggestions and support.
Hey, opiate withdrawl by itself will not cause death. If you are otherwise healthy (no high blood pressure, heart probs, etc), then you will not die from WD. Also, the amount and type of opiate you're using is relatively low compared to other posters here. Off to the right and down on the bottom is the Thomas Recipie. Check it out, and read through as many posts from people with similar usage and DOC as you. If you're ready to quit after six months, I know you can do it! It takes some years before they even think seriously about quitting! Read up, get your mind set, and you can do it!
