I think if you only use the sub to detox -- as in a week or two at most -- you will be fine.  Many detox centers use sub to HELP alleviate some withdrawal.  Use the tinyiest amount you need.. dont try to feel "GREAT" just take a tiny amount to take the edge off.  There is no pain free way to quit all together.  I wanted a pain free way and spent over 2 years on subs and it was the FIGHT of my LIFE to get off them.

So use sparingly.. they can be extremely helpful as used as a tool, but be careful.  We arent supposed to give dosing advice but I can say that a little goes a long way with sub. Are you doing this via a doctor?  When I did my first sub treatment I took 2mgs waited a half hour, then added 2mgs until I felt out of it. NOw, I wont like.. Im an addict.  I could have stopped at probably 6-8mgs.. but as an addict, I took the max (this was at my doctors office.. )  That was not the right way.  In restrospect 2-8mgs should be enough to make you comfortable.  Remember the key is SMALL amount. SHORT time.  After yoru first few days, reduce the sub each day by about 2mgs.. this should be easy if your only planning on using it for a few weeks.

And really the MOST IMPORTANT thing is aftercare.  W/drawal is the easy part.  With or without sub, w/drawal will end and you will feel better and will have to work on staying clean.  Good luck.

I'm not a substance abuse doc, but here's my understanding.  Please check these meds out at a place like rxlist.com

Suboxone contains Buprenorphine and  naloxone, Subutex only has Buprenorphine.  The Naloxone is added to the Bup so people don't try to shoot it up (it's harmless if swallowed for the majority of the population).  Most doctors prefer to prescribe Suboxone for this reason.
Oh, Bup is a partial opiod agonist and naloxone is the stuff they give people who've OD to clear opiods out of the system (instant wd when given IV).

I almost went on Sub but decided against it -- I've heard too many horror stories about getting off it.  I hear you can't be on it for more than 3 weeks or you'll get terrible wd.

There are other people here who can give you more information than I can, but I noticed no one had answered you.  They will be able to help you with the dosage.  I do know that less is more.  I'm sure you'll get some dosing info soon.  In the mean time, good luck.
