amitripyline

Sorry I said ambien instead of amitriptyline. I just wanted to know how long it would take to get out of your system. I took 25mg once a night for 2 weeks? I'm angry and can't get motivated and depressed. Need to get off of it

Thanks for the info!!! I'll digest that. I've got to where when I get up from sitting I get dizzy and my legs are soooo weak. I get up slowly too. It doesn't do that when I first get up in morning . Don't know what going on with me, I'm just going to sit back and relax and keep on keeping on!! ;-)

Hi Tooter!  I'm gonna weigh in here.....I made the decision at 9 months clean from opiates (hydros) to try amitriptyline for my nerve pain.  I stayed on it for 3 months cause I wanted to really give it a fair shake.  It DID help with one of my nerve pain issues (my neuropathy for sure) and I think that's what you are taking it for too, right?
I had many other side effects that I didn't care for so I weaned slowly off of it.  I DID have quite a few w/drawal symptoms though it's NOT addictive, it definitely "can" have discontinuation syndromes (as they call it...lol)

You have only been off hydrocodone for 60 days....and I can't remember how long you have been off the ambien but not for 60 days yet right?.....so in my most humble opinion...I don't think the anger that's buggin you is from the ami.  It can take up to 4 weeks just for the ami to build up in your blood plasma and even begin to work properly.  And with as recently as you have gotten off opiates and ambien, I'd wager that what you are experiencing doesn't have as much to do with 14 days of taking ami as it does from NOT taking any opiates or an anti-hypnotic drug.  You're still healing....and the anger and mood swings that are uncomfortable to us are part and parcel of the neurotransmitters in our brains attempting to heal during our early days.
Just sharing my experience w/ ya....food for thought...not to be disagreeable, ok?

I haven't stopped yet. Just want to. I think the side effects are worse than the cure. I stopped before after taking it a month, did okay. Had dental work done so got back on ambien for 3 months again then got back on the ampitripyline. It's been about 2 weeks now, just want to quit, and get my energy back.

I was given the med not for depression, as it was originally prescribed, but for nerve pain.  I took it for several months every night and it worked great. I then decided that I should try without it. I didn't want to become dependent on it. I stopped and I had no side effects. I can't believe you are suffering after only two weeks? Are you sure there isn't something else going on? Have you told your prescribing physician that you stopped abruptly? You may want to talk with him/her and make a plan that will help with your depression. Best of luck.
