P.S. the Darvon you are on is just like the Darvocet that I am on, with one exception. Darvocet has Acetominophen added for an exta little boost in pain relief. My pain management doctor wanted me left on it! What is right for me may or may not be right for you. But my doctor is an expert in pain management AND detox and he should know what he's doing...at least I hope so! Please see if you can get to a pain management doctor...they can help you detox AT HOME SAFELY!

I made my pain management doctor help me get off Fentanyl (which is 100 times stronger than morphine...a very nasty drug that I did not know about until my former doctor had me hooked...prescribed for severe back pain.) He gave me Clonidine, which works for most people to help with the jitters, restless legs and creepy crawlies, but it brought my blood pressure down too low. So, I took a half dose to help my wds without bringing down my b/p too much. My doctor wants me to STAY on my Darvocet...three times a day and my Clonazepam at bedtime. He didn't take me off either of those during my Fentanyl detox. I have been off of Fentanyl 7 days 14 1/2 hours! The wds are gone...I just have some issues with my blood pressure that occurred because I got cute and thought I would just take myself off the Clonazepam on my own and did not know you are NOT supposed to come off any benzo cold turkey without a drug taper. I'm really in a pickle with my b/p going up and down and up and down. I went back on the Clonazepam tonight and will see if that helps the blood pressure issue...should have listened to my doctor. There are just some circumstances where, for your own health, you cannot come off ALL meds at one time. The best is to take the most vile, heinous culprit out of your system first, then work with a doctor on a taper for the rest of the meds. I found this out the hard way. Yes, people have come off on their own BUT it's risky business. Do you have a General Practice doctor whom you can trust and go to for help or referral to get off the meds? That would be second best to a facility. My last choice for anyone would be for them to be their own detox doctor. It's too dangerous if you have no idea what you are doing. Just look at me...I did my OWN thing even after consulting with a pain management doctor (and EXPERT at detox) and I am regretting that I did that...I will listen from now on! All the best to you!
Blessings!

I usually don't like to see people be their own detox doctor but this is one of the best drugs for withdrawal if used for a short time. Like others said, it's better to do it under a doctors care. That amount of morphine taken oraly isn't all that much. all the best
discuss it with your doctor no one here can you you that info.As biker says not a good thing to use one opiate to get off another .
You can always taper down first. I dont recomend the darvon. The only thing that takes away withdrawals is another drug. And that would be pointless. Is this morphine thru a doctor. if say he can help.
For how many days was this habit going on? That might make a diffenence. The darvon are placebo at best for morphine withdrawal......Good news is that although morphine is very nasty withdrawal it doesnt last as long as some other things......
