can you take codeine for a day or 2 without getting withdrawals when you stop ?

hi again lol
this is playing on my mind .........
i have my prescription of 100 30mg codeine off the doctor as he didnt have time to go through my problems so i have to wait 2 weeks to see him again (so as usual here have these till then !!!)
if i take them as prescribed at 8 a day i know i will be back where i started so thats out of the question!
but if i take 4 a day for 2 days then stop with i get withdrawals?
should i take less or stay on a lower dose for longer ? its sooooo confusing i do not want to go through withdrawals again but i also dont want to suffer as i am
any ideas?

my prescription is for codeine phosphate 30mg (no buffer)
i was on 2 a day to start with then up to 8 but......
i was using my whole 100 tablets in 2-4 days (shocking i dont wanna add it up ) then using N+ otc 12.8mg codeine 200mg ibuprofen for the remainder just to cope with my stomach probs when id run out (how stupid when i think about it) i was allowed a prescription every 12 days for 2 years!!
no one said a word !! just kept giving me the prescription an each time i would beg for something different coz i knew what i was doing!!
i dont have pancreatitis...........i had it when i had gallstones i was told the gallstones caused it............i have only had a drink twice in a year 2-3 glasses of wine and both these times i have ended up with stomach pains an vomiting so thats outta the question !!
i dont drink as my mum is an alcoholic and i was brought up in care so i saw first hand the damages.

I see you were taking twenty a day ..I was also noticing you drink sometime if you have pancreatitis that is so dangerous and it will also cause more liver damage with all off the tylenol use .First thing to make your self feel better is going to have to be lifestyle changes they are effecting your digestive tract.

I'm glad you are feeling so much more optimistic. Keep your chin up and rage against the machine...you will get your answers and we are all here for you.
Like avisg said...how much tylenol are in your tablets? Too much of that can rip up your GI track...and if you've got some pre-existing problem (like a wonky sphincter of Odi) the tylenol may push your system over the edge......and reak havoc.

this doctor ive only seen once and the look on his face when i said i dont want to take codeine was shocking !!
why r u on them!!! etc..... looks like no doctor in my practice talks to eachother lol
so he quickly looked through my notes and shock again !! too young to have your gallbladder removed!! etc (i was 18) who put u on codeine!!! 6 years!!! lol
so i asked about cholestid(spelling ) its a binding resin in tablet form  and he said i havent got time today make an appointment to see me in 2 weeks and we will sort this out !!! he was annoyed that nothing has been done for this long.
so im praying now something will be sorted what when an how is another story lol but for once someone is listening!!
and that is down to all of you on this forum !!!!! i couldnt have done any of this without u all the support and information you have given me i thought i was stuck on codeine for life with no alternatives coz i was told NOTHING ELSE LEFT so many times so thanks all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you only take 4 a day for a couple of days you should be okay...you may feel some anxiety but overall you should be okay.
SO--you're doctor is willing to listen to all your symptoms and take a serious look at some of the other options we've discussed?
I really hope so. You don't need to suffer BUT we don't want you back on copious amounts of opiates either!!

What would you do after taking them for two days? If you stop after two days you may have some mild withdrawal again and be suffering with you original problem again, plus you would have more than a week before you see the doctor again. So, if you were only going to take them for two days then i wouldnt take em at all and just wait to see the doctor again.
