I have been on oxycodone for almost a year. I stop taking them because my pain was not as bad anymore. Last might was horrible. I felt like my skin was crawling and I was shaking and I could not sleep. I was so tired and depressed this morning. I finally took some zanex to help me sleep. When that did not work I took some of my dilaudid and that seem to help. I do not want to stop taking the pills but I only want to take them when I need them. However, I do not want to feel like this. I thought about taking valium to get me through the withdrawls. Like I said, I only take them when my back is hurting. I do not take them for recreation like some people. I did not know that these pills could do this to you. My doctor did nto mention this so I am really upset. does anyone have any advice for me???? I need help ASAP!!

both ambien and valuim are habit forming, i just left a job where i work in medical detox
for sleep they used trazadon, the doc would not give patients the drugs yooyu have, does not mean that you cannot take them, its just not typically used in a facility, because then the patient leaves addicted to their comfort meds
look these up....bentyle, vistoril, trazadone
run these by your doc,
no matter what comfort meds you use, there will still be some wd symptoms, stay strong!!!! tell your hubby that he may need to take over for a few weeks while you take care of yourself
i would like to add this, i have responded to several od's as a result of benzo's, people can forget that they have taken they and take one after the other, in my opinion and experience benzo's use during opiate detox really isnt that helpful and the risk do not out weigh the benifits
but i am not here to make this descion for you, i will completly understand and stick with you if you go that route!!

The valium really can help during your detox period, but of course you must be careful to not start up another addiction. Of all the benzo's valium is the least addictive, but still can become a problem if its abused. For me during my many opiate detoxes, sleep is very hard to come by and one of the hardest things to deal with. Sounds like your husband can be the one to get up during the night if the kids need something, so it shouldnt be a problem. Some people may not agree that using a benzo during detox is ok or not, purely because us addicts usually find it hard to stick to the prescription. To say that you cant be a good mom just because you take valium is ridiculous, now if you abuse the valium thats one thing, but thats just my opinion. The obvious worry is that you take valium and ambien too long and you will become dependent upon them, but to use them for a short period 1-4wks, stick to your doc's script and take this time to get clean from opiates. You know yourself better than any of us, so if you think its going to be a problem then by all means dont take them. Ive seen a few different addiction specialists to get off opiates in the past, everyone of them gave me either librium, valium or xanax to help during withdrawals. In my experience when detoxing off oxycontin and methadone, when I took a benzo I wasnt impaired what so ever as long as I didnt abuse them. Another alternative if your not comfortable taking valium is clonidine, I found it very useful to help with the w/d's. So most important thing is to remain vigilante in how and when you use the meds and just be careful. When you get through the withdrawals whether or not you use anything, you will be proud and a better mom for it. I wish you all the best, you can do this, let us know how things go. Take care.

i have been addicted to ox's when my children were young, i decided to kick and keep them safe by taking them to my parents house
i suggest that you do this
#1, if you take the ambien for sleep and one of your children needs you during the night you will not be able to care for them
and #2 i have never seen a mom take valuim and be a "good" mom, its just a bad idea
my mood during detox was the main reason i asked for my parents help, i became very depressed and was unable to move around
good luck
keep posting, people here do care about you
