I'm currently in a methadone maintanance progrm. I started abusing xanax now I want to know how to detox off the xanax?

HI ...I was also on methadone and xanex at the same time and the clinic use to pitch a fit about it every time I took a U/A I came into the progam on it and had a legitimate script for it
they use to fax the doctor I was getting it from all the friggin time to let them know how dangerous this combo is...it can become dangerous even after you have been on it a wile
today im benzo and methadone free...your going to need a doctors help doing this...this is nothing the forum recommends you try on your own due to seizures if done incorrectly
xanex is a funny benzo in that it works on its own brain receptor so switching to a longer lasting benzo to help quit can be difficult in its self...it took me about 5 mo to taper off it and I was only taking 4mg of it 1mg 4 times a day...It was used to treat my bipolar symptoms but after working with a substance abuse conslor we both decided that I should treat my bipolar with non additive meds..so I was tapered off under a doctors supervision....it not ez even doing it right but it is doable....im assuming you have a ligit script for it otherwise the methadone clinic wouldn't be treating you go to your doctor they make xanex in 1mg .5 mg and .25 mg so what they do is bring you down .25 at a time it has to be done really slowly to avoid seizures...we no longer post tapers in the open forum but if you like I can give you the one they used for me If you like I will send it threw the messenger but again this needs to be done under doctors care....have you thought at all about getting you life back from the methadone?? if so I can help you with that and let me asure you it will be one of the best decisions of your life...I will wait for you to post back good luck and God bless......Gnarly

Hi.  When I was on m/done , If I took any benzo's (like Xanax} they would cut me off methadone. It can kill,the combination.
See your m/done doc. ,he can give you something in it's place that is safer.        kc

Hi~  Good !!  That's a bad combination to be on !!!!

See a doctor to give you a taper plan. The Xanax needs to be tapered slowly.
