Day 3 but...I'm hurting

I know a lot of you guys have true pain, my question is what could I ask my pm doc to prescribe to me for pain that is non addictive but will still give me the relief I need.
I am taking 800 mg of motrin and soma both of these 3x a day.
I really don't want to take tylenol seeing how I abused the hydro I need to give the liver a break, ya know.....
Thanks guys,
Beth

a herniated disc can be painful...most have bulging/ herniated discs and never even feel it..most people over 40 have at least one bulging/herniated disc////but some like u and I have pain from it...have u been checked for scoliosis?  A certain amount of degenerative disc disease and herniation is normal with age as are bone spurs on the vertebrae..a ruptured disc is a reason to be concerned with as the inner liquid in the disc leaks out and causes pain

Pain relief can be with motrin, ice, yoga, heat, massage and chirpopractic has helped me most...I have tried a cervical fusion/dont/it doesnt help people with these problems...i am now going to a nuerosurgeon to take the titanium plate out of my neck...did not know this till i ran into someone by accident leaving the drs office...so  want to get my plate removed as my bones have fused///6 years/take a year to fuse /so the plate is there for no reason now///foreign body and can cause an inflammatory response

be safe and remember to try holistic measures for pain relief and steer clear of narcotics and benzos....massage is great and when i can afford it i get one..which is far and few in between unfortunately...40 bux for 30 min and 70 bux for an hour..and i know that twice a week massage would benefit me...but i am not rich...the homedic shiatzu massager will have to do for now..i can afford a massage 1 x a month..and i love them

all i all...chronic pain is something we have to learn to deal with as narcotics become ineffective due to tolerence...what was ur daily dose?

hi!! hope you feel better soon! My back hurt REALLY bad during w/ds also. Today actually is the first day its hurt since the first 4 or 5 days of w/d's. took a non-narcotic muscle relaxer~skelaxin and ibuprofen and it seemed to help a little, stopped the spasms anyway. :) hope you feel better soon!!

I may have posted this before, but my PM doc prescribed me a "tens" unit which really helps me on my bad days.  You attach electrodes to the area where the pain is and it sends electric impulses through the area.  You might want to ask your doc about that.  I have herniated discs that are buldging into my spinal cord at L-4, L-5 and S-1.

Beth,

I know how bad you feel, and how much you wanted this, before you started. As you already now, your going through the worst part of withdrawls, and your body is screaming out for relief....I know that day 3-4 tend to be the worst from hell. You have a great attitude and motive, even before you started. I know its hard to go through this, and the pain, but I promise it will ease up, and you will turn that corner and start to see the light very soon. Suffering is the worst part of c/t withdrawls....try and keep you mind focused on what awaits ahead for you.

The anti-anxiety med should help with your anxiety....Your doing great Beth, and I am so proud of you.

Everyone has posted great advise for your pain....now you just really keep fighting with everything you have, and with the agony....dont let the battles in your mind get to you..

Everytime, it gets rough, just keep thinking about the other side, and remind yourself...it is the power of those drugs, and how much effect they had in your life...remind yourself, the reason that you suffer, is because of what these drugs have done, and the deadly power they have....but you made a couragoues move, to get through hell, so you can get the life you deserve and want so very bad!!!

You will get there Beth, just keep fighting, posting, reading and doing whatever it takes do get through this day.....it will pass, and every day that awaits you gets better and better as so many in here can also assure you of that!

Your doing great....keep going and dont look back!
God Bless you,
Love,
Todd

Sleep was the last thing to come for me...That part last the longest to me...I would yawn a few times, then sneeze non-stop...To me --yawns, and sneezes dont' go together....But it makes sense since our bodies have been pretty much sleeping all this time...Every sneeze i would just keep thinking, I am alive, and one sneeze closer to the end of this...Set your mind as best you can right now...It is so powerfull...
Do you have anything for the panic attacks?
Stay Strong girl!!

to all you guys with back pain.  every try getting regular massages?  i know it will not correct the disc problem but a lot of the time the pain comes from the muscles around the disc tightening and spasming as a protective mechanism.  i know massage is costly and unfortunately not covered by insurance most of the time but i have treated people successfully to help alleviate some of the pain.  just a suggestion coming from a massage therapist.

Almost like a bad panic attack (which it could be just that).
I'm so tired yawning all the time, when will I be able to sleep
through the night?

I also have the exact same thing as you in my lower back...Day 3 was my worst day, and my back hurt 200 times worst then before...If i had not been here and new about the w/d's making my back pain worst, I would have probably went to the ER ...But each day it just kept getting better...
like sunshiny, I beleive our kidneys are in shock too, and getting all the toxins out is tough on our bodies....But you are almost there...Stay Strong.
Also--I use a heating pad on my back, and use zanaflex when i need....
good luck

I also have lower back pain...a little different than yours.  I need a fusion, so they say.  I can't take either advil or tylenol cause of stomach problems.  I use ice alot, and also...have you tried the lidoderm patch?  That also has helped me.  And...as everyone has said...your pain just might get better than you think after you've been off the drugs for awhile.  It's day 24 for me and I don't hurt as much as before...go figure.

Zanaflex is a good muscle relaxer. Ibuprofen 600mg up to 4x/day helps too. This combo helps me with the low back pain. I too have bulging discs.

Well there is no perfect drug that works for pain and is non addictive. that is how most of us got into this mess.

The over the counter stuff will take down the swelling that causes some of the pain. Heat and cold can help this too.
In the morning when it is hard to move around , a heating pad will help. gets the blood moving and loosens you up.
If pain has already set in- ice packs will take the swelling down and relieve it.

You may have to find a different way to sleep at nite. My lower back is messed up too. I can rarely sleep on my bed. Laying flat just aggrevates the heck out of it. So i sleep most of the time on a loveseat i have so i can have my legs up and it relaxes the small of your back while you are sleeping.

hope you get some good sleep tonight.

So the hydro is still in me after 3 days?
I thought meds were gone pretty quick.
