false positives ?

I'm a 50yr. old male who had a drug abuse problem for most of his adult life. I was diagnoised with adhd and perscribed medication to treat it at about 8 or 9 years old and have been on some type of adhd medication ever since. Right now I'm perscribed adderall to treat my adhd. I love it. Out of all the different types of medications I've been on over the years the adderall works the best. Now hers my problem. A few years back I was arrested for sales of marijuana. While incarcerated in a state prison facility, the prison psychiatrist diagnosed me and classified me CCCMS which is just a tag the state prison systems tag you with if you suffer from any mental health issues. Before inmates are released from a state prison facility you must appear before the Board of Prison Terms wher they review your file and ask you some questions and then decide if you've been rehabilitated enough to be released back into society. This is also where they decide on your conditions of parole. Well, one of my conditions is that I see the P.O.C (a social worker at the parole office) once a month and that I submit to a drug test once a week and that I take my prescibed medications as ordered. Like I said my doctor perscibed me adderall. Parole knew this and was okay with this even though adderall is an amphetimine and will test positive as such. Well about a year ago while taking adderall I caught a parole violation for a dirty test. Parole said my test results came back not only positive for amphetimines but also positive for methampetimine. I told my parole officer the test results were wrong. That if my results came back positive for methampetimine it was a false positive. I really had'nt used any methamphetimine. He said he did some research and his findings were that nothing would test positive for methamphetimine except methamphetimines. He violated my parole and sent me back to state prison to do a six month term. After my six months, the same senerio. Before my release I had to appear before the Board of Prison Terms. Same conditions of parole as the last time only this time they added that once I was released from prison I had to go directly from prison and into a 90 day residential ************** facility then once that was completed I had to go directly into an S.L.E house ( sober living enviroment )for an additional 90 days. Well,I had been at the residential treatment facility for 36 days this time when parole came once again and arrested me for a supposed dirty test. This time though I tested positive for methamphetimines only. Like I said, I had been at the residential (live-in) facility for 36 days this time. Taking 10mg of adderall twice aday everyday. The medication is distributed by staff at indicated times. They watch you take the medication then they log it into a medication log book which is then signed by both you and the staff. Like I said, Iwas taking aderrall for 36 days, twice a day and I tested negative for amphetimines and positive for methamphetimine. Is this even possible?

Thanks, TrayCee - After I posted, I  dug a little deeper into the site and can see how it might be controversial - it was just the first one that came up. There were many others. It's obviously important to use highly reputable sources in a situation like onagood1 is facing. Thanks so much for the heads up, though!

Still a federal or state co. proforming drug tests that can put someone back in jail should check for sh*t like that. Thats seriously Fed up dude i'm sorry this is happenin to you i think you should look into a lawyer that could help you out with this situation or maybe place a couple of phone calls to the federal gov't. I'm sure there has to be some other way to do a more advanced test so that even if the an. show up as methan. that they can tell exactly how much you are taking and match it to your legal dose. I know they can do this with oxys and sub. to monitor tapering use in rehabs. so i'm sure they can do it in ur case. Hope that helps!!

I don't know who runs the above site, but it took me approximatley 5 seconds to google, "adderall false positive." Does your parole officer not have access to google?? It would seem to me that unless you want to change your prescription, you should arm yourself with as much evidence as possible that you will produce these false positives for as long as you're on this medication.

Methamphetimines are amphetimines.  Adderal is similiar to amphetimines but I don't know if it would create a positive test. Much depends on the type of test and how much they break it down. I once tested myself with an online test that I was testing my son with and I came up positive for amphetimines with the drug phentermine which is a synthetic amphetimine. I would call a pharmacist and see what they say. They would  be able to answer this and give a second opinion. Lots of luck to you. Corey
