Almost to 48 hours!

So a little about myself, I started taking Percocet about 2 years ago recreationally without realizing the reprocussions of what I was doing. Well needless to say I hate what it has done to me, I don't hang out with friends anymore, my bank account is low, etc. etc. I can tell you I have tried to get off of these twice before and the furthest I made it was just over 72 hours! I am currently just about 48 hours in and the withdrawals haven't been that bad! But I do not want to fail this time at all! I need some encouragement, does it get better? And if so how long before it does?

If you get the chance read bella's post (just posted a few minutes ago). 40 days clean, off Percs like you. Very inspiring. Take a look into your future...

Yes, it does get better - much better. If you haven't already, take a few moments and read some of the stories on this forum. You'll find people who've successfully detoxed off of a wide variety of meds, including Percs. As far as the severity of the withdrawal, and the time involved, part of that depends on how much you were using daily, and I believe that your age and general health play in to the process also. In general, the first four days or so are the hardest for most; drink lots of liquid, take vitamins when you can, and when your appetite returns, eat as much healthy food as you can. Get your body up and running again so you can better deal with the mental aspects of detox.  I'm on day 34; I feel great, and everyday I feel better. Stick with it, and you will get out of the fog and start enjoying life again - that is a promise.

Welcome and you've found a great place to get support.  We all find ourselves here for different reasons but yet here we all are in the same spot.

Once you get past the worse of the withdrawals it gets a little better everyday.  My DOC was hydrocodone and I'm 6 days off.  Baby yourself, hot showers, hot tea, immodium, look up the Thomas recipe on the bottom right of this page.  Anything to help make you comfortable.  I'm new too and you will friends here who will help you through these difficult days.

We are all here - keep posting!
