how long does it really take to go from methadone to suboxone?

i have been on methadone for over a year now, anywhere from 40mg to 140mg, but mostly 40mg to 60mgs. i thought i could take my last does on a monday and wait until thursday (at least 65 hrs) and took 2mg of suboxone but i was wrong because i went into withdrawal fast and bad. i have to work the next 3 days so i couldnt be sick. some people have been telling me i have been stock piling methadone for over a year so it could take 3 weeks to be out of my system. i dont know what to do. i want to go back on the subs everything was on track but i dont know the appropriate wait time, what do i do??

im not sure this is the way to go...both methadone and subs build up in your body? My opinion, your trading similar drugs....what is your end goal....what do you want?

Everyone's body reacts different. I was on 2 films of suboxone for 5 1/2 years. The half life on those b's are redic. I've been clean from subs for 10 days. My physical wd's lasted 5 days or so. Def manageable I had only 4 days off work and was able to go back to work. The sleepless nights and the no energy *****. But last night I actually got 7 solid hrs of sleep which is amazing bc I was only getting 2-3 hrs for the first 8 days. That is the main complaint..insomnia, anxiety, and no energy. But slowly it's coming back!

And 40mg to 140mg is a huge jump,is a doctor prescribing you these meds? Also yes,methadone has a very very long half life,so it stays in your system a long time. In your fat cells,blood and bones. Not a good drug at all.

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to do here? Are you trying to switch from methadone to subs and wean off the subs? These are both very dangerous and addictive drugs. Usually subs are used to do a quick taper off another substance. Maybe a little more info will help the posters more so we can help you out Hun. Keep posting,especially if you're starting a taper/detox plan. :)) helps to talk to people who know what you're going through.
