day 8 and no turning back

this is the farthest i've been in 5 years..that is more than enough to tell me i can do this for sure!! i was looking online and found this quote " i have a buzz left in me, but i do not have a withdrawal left in me" and i found that helped me alot. its so freaking true....oh i have a buzz left, but when the time comes, i DO NOT have another withdrawal in me for sure....and to look back on the first 4 days..oh no no no !! its not easy, but it can be done, the mental isnt really getting me to much, my brain is on that 100% HECK NO not again mode. but my pain is getting pretty rough. but i was hurting even on the pills so what does it matter at this point? best wishes to all <3

Congrats on your 8 DAYS!!!  And for making it farther than you even have before!
You comment is very true.....all of us addicts have another relapse in us....but not any of us are guaranteed another recovery.

You said you and your hubby have already saved a ton of money in these past 8 days.  Did you use together?  And is he clean, too?

While at 8 days your brain is saying "heck no"....the miserable PHYSICAL part of detox is pretty fresh.  Be sure to follow thru....telling your street connects that you are done and don't call.....changing the people you hang around with and the places you go.  Lining up some aftercare, both YOU and your hubby if you used together, is CRITICAL.  Surrounding ourselves with other recovering addicts is the best insurance we can have....not to mention a great way to make new friends that ALSO want to stay clean.
If you just return to your old friends and all the old places you used to go while using.....the triggers in your brain are GUARANTEED to go off....
Keep your guard up....make a recovery plan....and let us know how you're doing, ok?

yes he used as well, and is on day 8 just like me. I already went through and told my connections whats going on, and that i wont be getting anything anymore, i was really proud of myself for doing that (i was so freaking nervous, like they would be upset with me, dumb i know). and deleted all there numbers. i wont answer any calls unless i know who it is, and i didnt ever really remember there numbers by heart, so thats a great thing! you guys have help me so much, reading posts, and seeing the success of so many others,i cannot WAIT until the day i can say a year clean, i know its only day 8, but im so happy and proud.

I have to 100000000% even more what CIK said above. It is SO, SO, Important to set your self up with some aftercare and stay away from friends who use. I had 20 plus months in and thought..Yes, thought I could go around a friend I have known most of my Life. Not Good! It does just trigger you if they use and if they take you places where there are drugs. Even if you do not know what they are up too, you soon will find out. It takes a while for the physical, physical part to ease up and then comes some mental..Once you can get past all of that then some day you will find your balance Spiritually, Physically and Mentally..Do not expect it over night..TIME & PATIENCE!! Hang in and surrender to the process with help up above and clean friends and meetings. LOTS of CHANGES have to happen!!!!
Bless
